its a matter of time for china or even russia to try to match the us technology..the sanctions from the us just help china to speed up its development.. russia will follow suit as if u want to be a superpower its better to rely on oneself for core technology as it really helps with the miltary defense side of that equation.

It actually should be named Longxn, that is the standard Pinyin, not Loongson. Longxn pronounces the same as "lone shin" .

People hail at this without knowing what's going on. China cannot produce a single transistor without current, exsting technologies. Designing a CPU with own instruction set isn't hard, checkout some youtubers who built cpus from scratch. For fabrication, China still uses western tools and machines. Also, China has not been able to code a monolithic operating system, so these chips will still have to run an exsting monolithic operating system, which, in this case, will have to have a low level instruction set converter.

This will fail in the long term, but it's great for propaganda that outside world will simply not care for.

人们不明就里地欢呼。没有现有的技术，中国连一个晶体管都生产不了。用自己的指令集设计CPU并不难，看看一些从零开始制造CPU的油管博主就知道了。在制造方面，中国仍然使用西方的工具和机器。此外，中国还无法编写一个单体操作系统，所以这些芯片仍然需要运行现有的单体操作系统，在这种情况下，就必须有一个低级指令集转换器。
