China unveils world's FIRST 2D-silicon hybrid flash chip with record speed and 94% memory yield

Following the publication of the world's fastest two-dimensional (2D) flash memory prototype device, "PoX," by Fudan University's Zhou Peng and Liu Chunsen team in Nature in April, the team announced the world's first 2D-silicon hybrid architecture flash memory chip, "Chang Ying (CY-01)," on October 8th.
This achievement marks a critical breakthrough in overcoming the engineering challenges of novel 2D information devices.

More correctly "first hybrid" — they put well known 2D surface (invented by Russian physicists, they got Nobel prize for this 15 years ago) on regular 3D structure of chips. Invention there — how to put 2D surface and connect it to 3D and not brake most of 2D surfaces in process of that.

Picosecond?! That's the speed of RAM!!! Imagine hundreds of gigabytes of NONVOLATILE RAM! It's storage, so it runs as fast as RAM, but keeps its contents. This would change even mundane development completely. And this isn't even a ramdrive (though it could be, trivially), but imagine datastructures with limitless size? Imagine a video game that doesn't need to load as the entire runtime datastructure exsts fully in storage.

Calm down. For last decades was a lot of inventions of fast memory. But de facto nothing produced. Why so? Too complicated/expensive. This tech is also pretty expensive. Look, US and Russia over decade ago demonstrated transistors which can work on speed of over 1 terahertz. Can you imagine such speed? But, of course there are no so fast processors or even regular chips. Technology is too complicated and expensive. Nobody even work in that direction, scientists made achievement, published papers and forgot.

Quantum A.I is the terminator version of A.I Deepseek sucks btw, sure you get a lot of tokens, but the context is complete garbage. I could make a LLM model with better context than Deepseek with 2 3080’s that produces 128k stable All A.I is programmed, Quantum A.I will program its self in realtime

hope they start churning out fast affordable ram and flash nand ssd, the prices are too high and hdd still rule price vs capacity wise /30TB hdd 650+ euro vs 8TB m.2 around 8501150 euro so times four 34004600 eur or one industrial 30TB U.2 6000+ eur/ would be nice if they use agressive pricing to overtake market share, even better would be to come up with a revolutionary new universal storage non volatile but fast like ram like this tech seems to be
