Why does China dare to build a world-class petrochemical base on an offshore island? In Zhoushan, east China's Zhejiang Province, this seemingly isolated base powers the manufacturing hub of the Yangtze River Delta. A vast network of sea-crossing bridges – stretching nearly 87 kilometers and linking eight islands – connects it seamlessly to the mainland.

But building bridges here is like assembling a giant puzzle on a shaking table. Typhoons, powerful currents and shifting seabeds challenge every step of construction. With 109-meter steel piles and cutting-edge engineering, how did engineers make this massive project stand firm at sea?

China doesn't really have to do anything. They still have plenty of access to oil, which they're in the process of weaning themselves off of already. China is improving and develo, while the US is rotting.

I agree and i also think long term this won't affect china anymore because of their green energy transition, but currently they are still very dependent on oil from other countries, especially from the middle east. I do think it's clear that the US is lacking more and more behind and makes terrible decisions for its future like returning to more oil production and less renewable energy development.

Other side of these Chinese infrastructure that is they are majorly failed in in very minimum times , you may heard or not but many of these brideges are get broken and impossible to carry loads due to its limitations and Poor Quality .
