Former US Rep and economist Dr Dave Brat trained the guns at India over the H-1B visa program and said that while the national cap for H-1B is 85,000, one Indian district got 220,000 H-1B visas which is 2.5 times the limit. "When you hear H-1B, think of your family, because these fraudulent visas just stole their future," Dr Brat said, appearing on Steve Bannon's podcast, adding that China contributes only 12% to the H-1B program.

In 2024, India's Chennai consulate reportedly processed roughly 220,000 H-1B visas and 140,000 H-4 dependent visas.

据报道，2024年印度金奈领事馆处理了约22万份H-1B签证申请和14万份H-4附属签证申请（注：H-4签证面向H-1B签证持有者的配偶及子女）。

US diplomat Mahvash Siddiqui, an Indian-origin US Foreign Service Officer, called out the industrialized fraud in the H-1B visa program as she recounted her experience at the Chennai consulate in India 20 years ago. Siddiqui revealed a shocking figure and claimed that 80-90% of the H-1B visas from India are fake -- either they have fake degrees or some other forged documents or they are not highly skilled as to be deserving an H-1B visa.

Siddiqui said she was posted to the Chennai consulate from 2005 to 2007 when she adjudicated at least 51,000 H-1B visas. The Chennai consulate processed applications from four regions: Hyderabad, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu, she said, adding that Hyderabad was the most concerning as Hyderabad's Ameerpet had shops not only consulting candidates on visa but providing them with forged documents -- be it an educational certificate or a marriage certificate.

What this idiot doesnâ t know is each year there are 85k new visas given. So if you have last 10 years- that means 850k people got h1bs. Now when anyone gets a visa and renews it- it still is another application again. And they need to again apply for visa stamp with embassy. Thatâ s how Chennai does 220k visas- it included fresh from 85k quota and also renewals for people who got H1b in previous years. Itâ s not a one time â approvedâ for rest of life visa. Each time someoneâ s visa ends or expires- they need their employer to renew again - just that they arenâ t counted towards the annual 85k cap.

And evwn if we assume that these lies have an element of truth then it raises issue with yhe competence of the US consulate as well as owrsnnel working there including the US ambassador. the US consulate is issuing visas and if as tbe lies say 220.000 visas were issued instaed of 85000, then the US should arrest all the US citizens working at the consulate at that time and ask India to arrest the Indians. Also, the ambassador at that time should be investigated by FBI for such monumental failure. What her report seems to be saying is that despite detection of such frauds they were helpless to prevent the issue of visas. They should have retained some discretionary power in the matter.
