The 2025 APEC meeting concluded in Gyeongju, the Republic of Korea. In 2026, the spotlight will shift to China's Shenzhen – a city that has transformed from a humble fishing village into a symbol of modern dynamism. Singaporean scholar Kishore Mahbubani witnessed firsthand the spirit of innovation there, where the Greater Bay Area is not only the heart of China's manufacturing power, but also an engine driving global opportunity.

That is why China's public infrastructure is like in Star Wars movies, National Health Service works for the benefit of the people of China...that is why there is more money and resources in China for modern laboratories and univeristies, new startups, develo of science, research and engineering of new technologies, new railroads, new high speed bullet trains on maglev engines, new EV and solar technologies, new nuclear reactors, new microchips, new materials...things that actually bring life changing oportunities for the new young generations in China. While everything is completely the opostite in the West. Scientists, mathematicians, engineers...they only work for the benefit of the private sector, corporations and their shareholders and feudal landlords on the Wall Street. Decades of study, research, time and billions $ of taxes and resources in United States goes in vaste for the development of stupid things like: iPods, iPhones, Amazon Alexa, Cyber Trucks...and absolute trash like this that actually don't hold any positive benefits for the people. That is why for example the railroads, public transportation, bridges, roads, tunnels, schools, hospitals, public streets full of drugs and criminal in United States are like in 19. century Wild West movies.

这就是为什么中国的公共设施美得像《星球大战》电影里的场景，中国的医疗体系是为人民利益服务的，这也是为什么中国会投入更多资金和资源建设现代化实验室、大学、新创企业，发展科学、研发新技术、修建新铁路、磁悬浮高速动车组，还有新能源汽车、太阳能技术、新型核反应堆、新芯片、新材料，这些东西实实在在给中国年轻一代带来了改变人生的机遇。而西方的情况则完全相反。科学家、数学家、工程师，他们只为本行业私营企业、大公司及其股东，还有华尔街的资本大佬服务。美国几十年的研究投入、时间成本，以及数十亿美元的税收和资源，都浪费在了一些没用的东西上，比如iPod、iPhone、亚马逊智能音箱、赛博卡车，还有这类纯粹的垃圾产品，对民众毫无正面益处。这就是为什么美国的铁路、公共交通、桥梁、道路、隧道、学校、医院，甚至满是毒品和犯罪的街道，看起来都像19世纪西部牛仔电影里的样子。

Thing is to get to 2015, 2025 China, you need to go through 1949, 1959, 1966, 1976 China just as to become a black belt, you need to pass white belt and brown belt first. This is something folks don't wanna do. They wanna skip straight to 2015, 2025 etc China bypassing their 1956, 1966, 1976 phases.

When I moved to Shenzhen 2000 it had 4 million people. It's crazy how fast it's grown. If I could handle the hot weather, I think I'd move there permanently. Great food, nice people ... I really miss it.
