It’s simple, for China it no longer brings any real benefits, especially since the US and EU now impose their own tariffs and sanctions outside WTO rules. On top of that, the US (since Trump’s era) has always played unfair, bending the rules of global trade to its own advantage.

The WTO failed because the US will not allow judges position to be filled. US lost twice on softwood lumber ruling against Canada…and US still kept imposing tariffs to appease the lobby while driving up costs of new homes.

So, western countries were criticizing China because they were: 1) hypocrites - they all provide subsidies for the same products that China provides subsidies for. Or 2) pretending to be ignorant - the United Nations actually encourages develo countries to require technological transfer as an entrance requirement for access to their markets (rules that western countries wrote).
