Passengers on a train in eastern China’s inhua were trapped after the vehicle collided with a freight train on July 2. One man, finding the heat unbearable, broke a window for fresh air as the air conditioning had been off for more than two hours. He was later taken away by police and reprimanded.

This shows a serious design flaw with the train. They should add an emergency slit for ventilation, and if not possible, consider train design changes to accommodate airflow where possible, maybe like adding manual air vent near the doors.

Yeah this really highlight a flaw in the train design. Maybe not enough ventilation holes, poor backup plans, etc. If the choice is paying the train repair or dying due to health complication from the heat, I won't be surprised another case of this happens soon.

All vehicles must have emergency exts and ventilation openings (unless the train designers can guarantee that the air-conditioner will always work no matter what). I don't understand how that train did not have openings to let fresh air in.
