Tesla founder Elon Musk postpones India trip due to 'heavy Tesla obligations'

NEW DELHI: Tesla founder Elon Musk on Saturday postponed his trip to India where he was scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During his visit, Musk was also expected to announce a much-awaited plan to make Tesla electric cars in the country.

The billionaire blamed 'very heavy Tesla obligations' fordelaying of his trip.

"Unfortunately, very heavy Tesla obligations require that the visit to India be delayed, but I do very much look forward to visiting later this year." he wrote on X.

新德里：特斯拉创始人埃隆·马斯克周六推迟了印度之行，他原定在印度会见莫迪总理。在访问期间，马斯克还将宣布一项筹划已久的计划，在印度生产特斯拉电动汽车。

Musk was expected to announce his ambitious project, groundwork for which is being done for years. The project is likely to see Tesla commit at least $2-3 billion investment as it sets up a factory to manufacture entry-level electric cars (speculated as Model 2, notwithstanding the recent question marks around the development of the product), to be priced around Rs 25 lakh.
