‘It’s a scam…’: Indian-origin man alleges Mumbai airport of minting money over Covid tests
An Indian-origin man alleged that Mumbai airport’s Covid test & quarantine protocol is a ‘scam’. Manoj Ladwa and his wife reached Mumbai on Dec 30 to attend his father-in-law’s funeral. The U.K. national narrated his version of events in a video on Facebook. "I have been magically tested positive at Bombay international airport. These four people are from the same flight as us, Virgin. Apparently, Virgin let so many of these people on a flight who are all positive but were negative yesterday," he said. "There is nobody responsible here. It's a scam. We are being scammed," he added.

rtpcr tests are highly sensitive but their specificity is extremely low. ( and am not even talking about the lower category tests) In common language people say that someone tested positive / they're I'll with covid. But technically this is just a screening process. Even at a molecular level it only looks (basically)for symptoms. So yes if you were negative just yesterday and positive today you should seriously doubt that.
After 2 years finally I was ready to go back to University for 3rd year, just before leaving home for flight I got my RT-PCR report and I am positive. . I had to cancel my 5K cost flight and postponed to 19 Jan just so others are safe from me.
Stop making these videos and follow the rules of the land.
I will choose our health sy em over his remarks.
He should realise that he could tranfer the new variant vir s to rest of his family and be responsible for their funeral too.
Tests are mandatory , it's a killer pandemic after all.
He tested negative in UK 3 hours before boarding the flight, so there is a high probability that he might have contacted the vir s while boarding in UK or in the flight. Calling this a scam is not acceptable.
Your not immune to vir s
I know he is in a very critical situation but in all of this fuss he did not count the crew. It might happen some crew was infected and as a result 15 people got infected
The way you reported is somewhere lagging, one can understand he was emotional over the moment, wanted to go to funeral of his father-in-law. But, what if he is really affected with the covid, he will affect many others whom he himself will not come to know.
Not only in India....people are negative before boarding and they may be positive later....sometimes in flight people become positive...all are helpless under such situation...but it's sad ....very sad...
Everyone is to blame including you
Airlines specify RTPCR tests 72 to 48 hours before boarding. In practice after giving swab samples people go about freely mingling in the society with their jobs. It is possible one can get infected after such tests too
We all respect your emotions and we should also respect medical science procedures it's validity.. country needs to be in strict rules for the spread of covid 19. If it's possible test yourself once again or in any private hospitals. Somehow we need to stop spread this time for the country.
People in the comments, need to cool their jets... it's just one person's narration, don't be in a hurry to pick your sides. Both cases are pretty possible, it might be a scam or it might be true that they are actually positive. Investigation needs to be done properly.
Confine them within four walls, they should have extra quarantine period
Should understand the risk what happens if they are really been affected with covid then the whole people who are there in funeras will probably get that too. Be practical to face and prevent the problems
Good Job to the authorities for stop such pests from freely roaming the country
Actually this guy has no moral sense of duty. This Angrezi babu wants to go for funeral after being detected positive, thus causing funeral of other people he may come in contact with. Everyone of us has lost someone or atleast faced some discomfort because of this pandemic, for me its both.
We as responsible beings should adjust for the safety of others.
One of my friend's relative tested positive in dubai after testing negative here in India. She got quarantine for whole ten days of her stay. There is a reason why they do tests at multiple points.
Am sorry for the situation you have faced but in the current situation first priority needs to be given to test results even if you consider it to be scam or wrong results as we can’t risk lives of others for one or two people
People like him making Mumbai hotspot zone cheers
Lol that's exactly how my siblings react to literally everything when they come to india from us and i just laught at them.
Literally every other indian who come from West
It's not scam authorities are doing their job pls co-operate
Selfish golddiggers, traitors shale
Law is law for everyone. Everyone has things to attend to but that cannot be used as an excuse to bypass the law. Especially during the current times when UK, US and many European countries are having uncotrollably rising COVID cases. India has already seen a lot during the 2nd wave. This whining to get some sort of NRI privilage is absoloutely unacceptable.
Respected sir, u r helpless in India which ever the go nment comes to power. It's not scam
If this gentleman is making such a cry about this being a scam. Why would there be only 15 positive's . In that case entire flight should have been positive. You have to follow the rules set by evening country and local body.
But airport authority did a good job
You spread it to 10 more people.
Pappu ji ka maa ka Bharosa
Thats why Maharashtra is leading in covid cases. more tests = more positive ppl
His wife is not even wearing the mask
