Well, that's not entirely true. In China, it is the case but a lot of fake western economies are based on stock, housing and other speculative markets, everything is overlavaraged and stocks/housing is use for collateral so stock market crisis is actually a financial and economic crisis.
Basically, stock market should never be the economy but there are a few exceptions. Those expections will crash pretty in the next 5-10 years.
