Indian railways needs to get the basics right first. Most of the mail and express trains are running hours late from the schedule. My weekly Kolkata Chennai was 15+ hrs late yesterday.

@anii87 n we will still believe in sleeper coaches unlike China which has built a massive high speed networks so that it has only chair cars n more seats n less time .. unlike ours still in sleeper coaches , more waiting lists , cancellations no tickets duringpeak seasons , black marketing by agents ..we are still in the 70 s ...our thinking shld change ...remove sleeper coaches add up chair cars , more passengers, less time by High speed trains

@tiger-wt8dm this average speed includes regular stops at every 5-10 kms the train does reach descent speeds but as we all know it is NOT a high speed train it is a type of temporary solution until we get our indegenious b28 or b35 and dont expect even these trains to have a average speed of more than 200 as even these will stop regularly (most of them, as some will be non stop at least in mumbai ahmedabad corridor)

Why do we need high speed trains and expressways? Dalits are starving. Just put all the money into the bank accounts of dalit families. We don't want expressways! India can only develop when majority of Dalits and Bahujans become rich. So government must distribute tax payers money among Dalits. Jai Bhim

This bullet train project was more of a future planning rather than an infrastructure development project. As our railway minister said that our engineers and pvt companies have learnt very much from this project and will implement these knowledge in upcoming projects. Moreover the supply chain is already there now so the time and cost will reduce in further projects. Just hope that it maintain 0 casualty record in India too and it can happen only if no corruption is involved in the whole process or project

Reminds me of Film Rocketry, where Indian scientists learned the tech from France and then ISRO made history. Its the same script which India is repeating. And it makes sense why suddenly India has accelerated its indigenous bullet trains game, coz it has learned the tech from Japan and is now confident of rolling out things on its own.

Japan developed it in 1963. Japan was destroyed in 1943. Within 20yrs Japan rebuild everything and developed high tech trains and other hightech industry. India even today unable to develop hightech industry. India develo pickle, atta, grocery delivery industry
