America is still trying to complete their first high speed rail in California. First proposed back in the mid nineties and dragged on for almost three decades wasting billions of dollars with nothing to show. Finally work officially started in 2015 and after ten years still not a single rail track has been laid. Original estimated cost of the project was USD33 billion back in the nineties. Now the total cost is expected to hit USD128 billion when its completed by 2029. A big if its completed. Billions wasted from corruption, poor planning and incompetent management, lack of experience. They should have asked the Chinese to build instead.
