I’m in San Francisco and every now and then my iPhone gets LTE 4G. Often I only see one or two bars on my expensive Verizon phone that USA has inferior so-called 5G. When I’m in China I get real 5G every where. Not to mention inexpensive China Mobile service. China is the future.

6G will be revolutionary. While the US has some good ideas and innovation in 6G, unfortunately without the ability to manufacture with scale, US 6G will be inferior. One critical bottleneck will be the rare earths. Another will be the advanced photonic chips and packaging. 6G technology especially in the Terahertz range require not only advanced packaging but ultra pure compounds that only China can refine. The US won't be able to make any 6G equipment competitively. China is at least 5 and maybe 10 years ahead of the US in 6G.

Again, the problem is basic. Everything here in the US is WAY expensive. The big providers, Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, etc. just spent 10s of billions for the 5G cycle. They are all carrying a ton of debt. How can they afford to do another upgrade cycle now? Whatever's going to happen, will happen later, likely much later.
