World's 2nd largest hydropower station's unit 7 starts operation

世界第二大水电站7号机组开始投入运行

Power generation unit 7 of southwest China's Baihetan Hydropower Station went into operation on August 5 after passing a 72-hour test run. Up to now, the total installed capacity of the units in the station has reached 10 million kilowatts and delivered more than 34.5 billion kWh of clean power. The main construction project started in July 2017, and the first two generating units started operation in July 2021. Once fully operational, the hydropower station will generate an annual average of more than 62.4 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity.

中国白鹤滩水电站7号机组在通过72小时试运行后于8月5日投入商业运行。

到目前为止，电站机组总装机容量已达到1000万千瓦。已投产的10台百万千瓦机组累计输送清洁电能已超过345亿千瓦时。

主要建设项目于2017年7月开工，首批两台发电机组于2021 7月开始运行。

一旦全面运行，水电站的年平均发电量将超过624亿千瓦时。

I will criticise Baihetan hydro for the first time but it is constructive.
Baihetan has 16 units hydro turbine, of the Francis type, each rated at 1,000MW which is the largest in the world. Outside China I believe 800MW is about the maxmum available for order but China ia already using 850MW turbines in Wudongde hydro next to Baihetan. The station was completed in a record breaking speed of in 5 years.
