NEW DELHI: The Enforcement Directorate on Monday conducted raids in multiple locations across Ranchi and recovered huge amount of 'unaccounted' cash from an alleged close aide of Jharkhand rural development minister and Congress MLA Alamgir Alam.

Video footage showed wads of currency notes spread in a room from the house of the domestic help allegedly linked to the private secretary of rural development minister Alamgir Alam.

Alam (70),is a Congress leader and represents the Pakur seat in the Jharkhand assembly.

According to the officials, more than Rs 20 crore has been counted from the cash recovered in the raid and the counting is still in progress.

ED sources said the note-counting machines have been deployed to count the cash to ascertain the exact amount which could range between Rs 20-30 crore.
