As a Canadian that’s previously lived in Malaysia, who’s had experience with both India and the US, I’d say that India is better if you're entrepreneurial and looking to live an exciting life, while the US is better if you're looking for stability.

India is a vibrant country with a quickly expanding economy, and there seems to be an opportunity around every corner. At the same time, you don't need to be rich to live well in India, and you can really explore different options in India without much worry or regret. Yes, India has it's problems such as a 21% poverty rate, but all countries have their own problems, and you can’t have benefits without some drawbacks. India is a great place to do what you love, and live fairly well doing it.

The US offers it’s own benefits, such as an unrivaled job market and a higher overall standard of living. Saying that, the US also lacks a lot of the vibrancy that you can see in a place like India. I would also add that most US cities aren’t particularly fun to visit, let alone live in (this is my opinion having been to 8 different US states and about 19 countries). If you want to do well, but not necessarily do what you love, the US is a great place to do it.

If you're from India and looking to move abroad, maybe consider just a different state in India. India, one of the world’s largest countries, is 3 times the size of the US (population wise), and there's really something for everyone if you look.

Otherwise, consider Malaysia. I know a lot of people from India that love it there, especially in KL, where I used to live. I would say that Malaysia is about the midpoint between India and the US in terms of lifestyle, culture, and opportunity.

Considering the above, my verdict is that India is the better place to live, but both countries are amazing.

Yes of course it's better than India but only catch is you will miss your friends and family.

Travelling to India for any family reasons is always a hustle. Sometime VISA issues in USA makes you suffocate for your choise for being here.

But finally if you survive and able to make some friends than you will love the independence, the basic human ri hts and respect for others. No one judging your choise and personal space. It also depends on person to person but eventually you will love spending every single time here in USA, it is a country of opportunities.

You can explore yourself no one will force you to think about the society and culture, you can do whatever you wish for.

But yes you will miss your friends and family sometime but in India as well you have to be self-sufficient one day so its always better to be on your own in a country with lot of opportunities and the basic human values.

Indian is in our heart so it's obvious to miss India and its culture, change is always difficult and when you see yourself in a new whole world it's normal to miss old days but for the better future we have to take tough decisions. Eventually you will love the peace here atleast give it a try, you can always go back to India after making some bucks.

I moved to US from India almost 30 years ago. I lived in Canada for 5 years in the intervening years. My vote goes to US after I look at all three.

The first thing I noticed after coming to US was the amazing diversity of people. I had friends and roommates from multiple countries soon after I moved. There is a much greater acceptance of different backgrounds. I was accepted as an American once I started to identify myself as one. Canada had some of that but there was one other thing where it fell short. There is an attitude in Canada that government should be solving the problems. In the US the attitude is that if you see a problem try to figure out a way to solve it.

But more than anything else my advice for any young person would be to get out and live in a part of the world dramatically different from yours, if you have that chance. You may or may not like it but the experience will broaden your horizon and cause you to look at things from different perspectives.

Among all the different answers, i will answer it in a more different way

A.If you are young, US is awesome (provided you don't slog in a company due to visa issues).

-There are many opportunities to grow in career. You are always closer to the CEO of an MNC than an indian counterpart.

-Date broad-minded fun-loving women (or men) with unique experiences. When i said women , do not read white-women!!

-Visit other nearby countries (easier to get a visa from US than from India , even with an Indian passport).

-Meet different races. Most cities have mixed races and you will always learn new things from them.

-Eat different kinds of food. Yummy.

-Make good money (in india terms).

-Drive far better cars on far better roads. After you come back to India, you might deplore Indian cars.

-A visit at this stage of life will probably change your thinking and ask more ‘why’ questions about India.

B. If you are old, India is better.

-very difficult to get help in US. Caretakers are very very expensive.

-medical costs are sky rocketing

-India has more of social structure than US. In India, neighbours still might help but in US, chances are very bleak.

If I have to compare Bengaluru to Toronto (where I am living), I will rate Bengaluru better.

Economic opportunities: Bengaluru (better because cost of living is less and lot of jobs)

Ease of living: Bengaluru

City - cleaniness and infra - Toronto

Education - Bengaluru, (In Toronto, it is nice and free but they learn only social skills)

Healthcare - Bengaluru (Do not have much choice of doctors, hospitals in Toronto)

Tourism - Bengaluru (Western ghats, Beaches)

Social life - Both good, Toronto slightly better

Food - Bengaluru

For Kids - Both good, Toronto has nice playgrounds and amusement parks for kids, In India, they are exposed to so many people.

Higher education - Toronto

Safer to live - Bengaluru (There are some random shootings happening around the city in Toronto)

Though Bengaluru is better in many things, I am living in Toronto because of few things. Air is clean and I can enjoy outdoors better. (In summer, forest fires hurt air quality. In winter, you can’t go out). In Toronto, I am not exposed to poverty, corruption, etc. At the same, I lose out on the cheap labour available in India to get things done.

(For a one day stay in Blue mountain, I spent $600 ~ 40,000 Rs) - I can do two such 2 day vacations in Western ghats with better service and great food with room service.

It really depends. I prefer hopscotching between the two. Life is definitely easier in the U.S., but India has a more unique culture of its own. It also where you reside in each country. I think American cities on the two coasts have a lot happening, but find the rest of the country rather dull. With India, I've found a lot of activity in small towns and big cities. At the same time, everything is very systematic and efficient in the U.S. while every minor task turns into a project in India (thanks to our wonderful bureaucracy).

People in U.S. are allowed to use weapons legally. Hence such crimes occur on large number. And for someone from a country like India who would have hardly seen a real weapon, could be a nightmare.

On the other hand yes it's a developed nation, nice environment, good opportunities, but India is safer (apart from the obvious fear of terrorism which is all round the globe now).
