@GRILL COOK FX China does not stop there. The next generation of Type 055 destroyers, probably will be called Type 055A, in construction will carry rail gun in addition to laser weapon as well. Railgun is in use in China for fire fighting. Firemen fire retardant pellets at high rise and hills using railgun. US is so far behind that US navy has officially cancelled the rail gun development in 2023. (it does not mean there is no black project.)

The difference between the US and China, is that China has a population in the billions and would have more scientists and researchers devoted to a single project compared to the USA which does not have the same level of manpower, and the USA is focus so much of funding to pay their teams where as china can just allocate material and financial resources on a scale that the USA cannot, so will china catch up and surpass the US in technology? China is building a new wind tunnel with wind speed up to Mach 20. Chinese media says gen 6 fighter jets will fly at hypersonic speed. It is both a space plane and a conventional plane. It will carry laser weapons and other energy weapons. It could also fire hypersonic missiles. Pentagon said that a Chinese hypersonic plane had fired a hypersonic missile at a ground target in 2022 during a test. We shall see.
