In a historic first, a naval version of the LCA Tejas landed and took off from the indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant. It was the first landing of a fixed-wing aircraft on an aircraft carrier's flight deck. The successful execution of landing and takeoff took place when the warship was sailing in the Arabian Ocean. The INS Vikrant is undergoing critical trials as it is set to become fully operational this year

Tejas can land on the carrier but does it have enough thrust to take off from a carrier?

It can do both. It can't take off from the carrier with full payload that is the problem, because it requires a longer runway to take off as the payload weight increases and the aircraft carriers are smaller.
