Hair salon is ordered to pay £200,000 compensation after giving an Indian model the wrong haircut and causing her to suffer 'mental breakdown'
A hair salon in India has been ordered to pay almost £200,000 to an Indian model after they gave her the wrong haircut.
The model visited the salon, which is part of an established hel chain in the capital of Delhi, back in 2018, giving specific instructions on how she wanted her hair cut.
Despite her instructions, the salon cut off too much hair with court documents saying they left 'only 4-inch from the top touching her shoulder,' BBC News reports.
Local media reports that the woman had been a regular at the salon, but her usual hairdresser had not been working on the day and so had another employee take her on.
The model took the salon to the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) which awarded her 20million rupees - the equivalent of £197,000 - in dges.
In its ruling, the NCDRC said that the botched haircut had shattered the woman's dream of becoming a top model.
It ned: 'She underwent severe mental breakdown and trauma due to negligence... in cutting her hair and could not con trate on her job and finally she lost her job.'
The Commission also said that the woman had lost her self-confidence as a result of the haircut.

The only difference between a bad haircut and a good haircut is three to six weeks. If a bad haircut puts you over the edge, you were nearly there already.

So..... the UK isn't the only place to lose its mind on these things. I had to give my own head a wobble after reading this.

Haven't been in a salon for 40 years when I received my last bad haircut & decided it couldn't look any worse doing it myself....saved myself alot of grief & money. I feel her pain but not to the point of a breakdown...it's hair & it grows back...

Hair Salons that cater to Models and Celebrities charge hundreds, and even thousands for a "haircut", so they are expected to follow instructions very closely. If they don't, there will be consequences.

If she can afford a nice salon in a hel she can afford hair extensions and it's not permanent, it will grow back. Can't believe she was awarded that amount. It's not like she was disfigured.

I must be owed millions for all the haircuts and colouring that I didn't actually like or want, but after a couple of weeks usually ok and then I didn't return to that salon.

If she has a breakdown worth that amount over a haircut that will grow out how would she react to a real problem
