PM Narendra Modi seeks list of infrastructure projects delayed due to court verdicts
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed go nment departments to prepare a list of infrastructure projects delayed due to different decisions of courts and tribunals and asked them to also assess the losses incurred to the exchequer by such time overruns.
The PM’s direction came at the last meeting of the Pragati where he reviewed progress of eight infrastructure projects— six rail and road projects (three each) and two relating to the power sector.
The minutes of the Pragati meeting held on August 25 with regard to the Bhanupali-Bilaspur-Beri New Rail Line project says, “Environment and forest, railways and road transport and highways ministries in consultation with law and justice ministry should identify decisions of courts, NGT etc., related to land acquisition, forest or other clearances which are causing delay in infrastructure project. The cabinet secretary should mon or such exercise. A list of delayed projects due to such court decisions including loss incurred to the exchequer may also be prepared.”
Several infrastructure projects have been held up across the country due to pending court cases over land acquisition and environmental issues like the Char Dham highway project in Uttarakhand.
The PM also directed the railway ministry to devise a hybrid sy em while planning and building rail tunnels in hilly areas so that road tunnels can also be built together. Sources said this integration will reduce project cost. Earlier, the PM had directed both the road and railway ministries to work together on this aspect while chairing a review of infrastructure sectors.
The minutes also mention that a list of projects delayed substantially should be prepared and those responsible identified, as reported by TOI on August 28. “The cabinet secretary should prepare a list of projects which are delayed substantially and identify responsible authorities, agencies and offi als for such delay. The list may be submitted within a week,” the minutes said.
Thanks modi ji, you are working 18 hours a day fornthe betterment of this country. No ither pm ever in past is so workohlic and dedicTed to his job like you. You are truly a leader of modern India.
we are so lucky and blessed to have him as our PM. the Greatest human Ever
Meanwhile infra projects should be outside the purview of normal courts.
A person who works 18 hours for 365 days slept for 8 years to realise this.
Are you a God? Who won't do any mistake and realized later....? Atleast MODI realized after 7 years what about others PM who was there in the power for 65 years.
There are still many sl ves who think foreigners are better than Indians, but the sad part is even educated ones behave the same way. All developments comes at a cost of some environment dge. The aim should be to minimize the dge and revitalize it after the project. These so call environmentalist do not after goons who carrying out illegal mining, cutting trees or polluting.
This is what Modiji. Court should also be accountable for the nation's losses.
Good Move to make judicial sy em accountable and productive.
Nation should know how much money are we losing due to judicial delays and unnecessary stays.
Its high time that all those who’s responsible for delaying the development of public facilities should be made accountable and public too. All erring officers should be penalised and respected court too can’t enjoy by sitting ducks.

Best PM ever. Digitize and share fully all information all over India. Knowledge is POWER
It is Nehru's fault that he gave Courts so much power and made them third pillar of de acy . Had Nehru followed dic ship, these problems wouldn't est.
Modiji has finished several stalled projects.... KMP is one very good example which was stuck for almost a decade and ROI was zero.... its very wise that along with starting new projects... the older projects get completed
It's just know which all can be sold and get 10 lakh crores by 2024!!!
How many half baked projects on hold or not completed due to fiscal issues?
To cover his failures Modi always endeavor at throwing blame on others.
Modiji what happened to smart cities and bullet trains projects at various states? why they stopped or delayed since 2014? you only knows the answer for this?
