India to take part in 17-nation exercise in Russia

印度将参加在俄罗斯举行的17国联合军演

NEW DELHI: India is all set to take part in the multi-nation military exercise 'Zapad' at Nizhniy in Russia from September 3 to 16. Both China and Pakistan are also participating in the 17-nation exercise but as “observers” without actual troops being deployed for the exercise.

新德里：印度准备参加9月3日至16日在俄罗斯下诺夫哥罗德举行的多国军事演习。中国和巴基斯坦也将参加这场有17个国家参加的演习，但只是作为“观察员”，不派军队参加。

The Indian Army has dispatched around 200 soldiers, primarily from the Naga Regiment, as an “all arms combined task force” for the exercise, which is one of the theatre level exercises of the Russian armed forces.

“The exercise aims to enhance military and strategic ties amongst the participating nations while they plan and execute this exercise, which will focus on counter-terrorism operations,” said an officer.
