India calls for urgent, practical assistance to 39 stranded Indian sailors on 2 ships in Chinese waters
NEW DELHI: India on Friday called for urgent, practical and time-bound assistance to 39 Indian sailors stranded on two cargo ships in Chinese waters in view of the "grave" humanitarian situation develo on board the vessels.
Citing coronavirus-related restrictions, Chinese authorities have not allowed the ships, MV Jag Anand and MV Anastasia, to either dock or go for a crew change for months.
"There is a growing stress on the crew members on account of the long delay. Given this and our concern for the increasingly difficult conditions for our crew members, these two cases are being pursued vigorously," Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said.
The ships had an option since 12 June to return to port of origin. This is not Chinese problem. India should pay the ship owner the return passage cost and bring the Indians home. This is a business dispute and nothing to do with China. Media should take statements from the Chinese when retiring one sided facts given by Indian authorities.
Our Government action is very very late. Government should have gone for their rescue, long back. Anyhow better late than never.
This is outright bullying by China, they will only understand tit for tat measures
CHINA understands only the language of strength, unfortunately we proved continuously with the Chinese that we are weak.
Stranded since June and September. Isn’t there a hotline to beig? Too late
We should do the same for all chinese blocked in india.
NAND KUMAR AWASTHI
UNHR be involved immediately and China ships not allowed to enter giving various excuses.
China only understands tit for tat..and so start harassing the Chinese here or in ships waiting in our ports. !!
shameful act by chinkies
Give the same treatment, so they will think twice.
Govt should impound all chinese vessels, not just in ports but anywhere in its waters, and forbid Indian-flagged ships from entering their ports, until the Indian crews are released.
We ought to use International agencys like ITF, IMO , other diplomatic channels to put pressure on the thugs.
chinese are Intentionally holding up 2 cargo ships
international Humanitarian should intervene to resolve it.
Hope new year will bring good news to those persons.

Hold any chinese ship that is passing through Malacca and berth it at Andamans and see the result in hours!
Why not sail to Hong Kong and have a crew change? It does not appear as if the Chinese go nment is holding the ships forcibly.
My appeal to GOI, please take immediate action in this regard. By hook or crook, we need our men back.
this is war by other means by china Indian people should boycott chinese goods if they have any self respect
God help our sailors...
