PM Modi visits Gurudwara Rakabganj, pays tributes to Guru Tegh Bahadur

NEW DELHI: In an unscheduled visit, PM Narendra Modi on Sunday visited Gurudwara Rakab Ganj Sahib in Delhi and paid tributes to Guru Tegh Bahadur for his supreme sacrifice.

新德里：周日，莫迪总理参拜了位于新德里的希斯甘吉谒师所（锡克教宗教场所），并向上师得格·巴哈都尔致敬。此次参观并未事先安排。

Guru Tegh Bahadur's death anniversary was observed on Saturday.

周六是上师得格·巴哈都尔的忌日。

Modi offered prayers during his visit to the gurudwara for which no police bandobast or traffic barriers were put in place to restrict movement of the common man, official sources said.

官方消息人士称，莫迪在参观期间祈祷，未设置警戒线和交通障碍，限制普通人出入。

The Prime Minister shared pictures on his official Twitter handle of his unscheduled visit to Gurudwara Rakab Ganj Sahib.

"This morning, I prayed at the historic Gurudwara Rakab Ganj Sahib, where the pious body of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji was cremated. I felt extremely blessed. I, like millions around the world, am deeply inspired by the kindnesses of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji," PM Modi tweeted.

He also tweeted in Punjabi and noted that the Guru gave the supreme sacrifice while defending Hindu religion and spread the message of universal brotherhood.

The mortal remains of Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Sikh Guru, were consigned to flames at Gurdwara Rakabganj.

The Prime Minister's visit to one of the most popular gurudwaras among the devotees in the national capital assumes significance as it comes amid intense protests by farmers, especially from Punjab, against the three farm laws enacted by his government.
