Husband in UAE prison for blasphemy, Ujjain woman pleads to PM Narendra Modi for help
BHOPAL: A 31-year-old woman from Ujjain has approached Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah seeking urgent help for her husband, a mechanical engineer, who has been sentenced to 15 years imprisonment and nearly Rs 1 crore in fine by a UAE court for alleged blasphemy.
Ankita Pandey’s husband, 33-year-old Akhilesh, was jailed in February this year. She says he fell victim to a conspiracy hatched by a group of people, including two Indians, a Pakistani and a Sudanese national.
Exhausted mentally and financially after running from pillar to post, carrying along their two-year-old daughter, to free her husband, Ankita returned to her parental home in Nagda last month to continue her fight from here. She is trying to communicate with the Indian consulate and UAE president Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, hoping to file a mercy petition ahead of UAE's 49th National Day on December 2.
Pandey, a native of Gorakhpur (UP), was working with Union Cement Factory in Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) city, as head of its safety section. Ankita shifted to UAE in 2013. On September 16, 2019, a Sudanese in his team filed a complaint against Pandey, accusing him of hurting religious sentiments. An employee from Pakistan and two from India became witnesses in the case. UAE’S criminal investigation department probed the complaint. Pandey was arrested and sent to Abu Dhabi's Al-Sadr prison on October 9, 2019. During trial, he denied the charges, but to no avail.
“We are in tears. I am sure he is innocent and has been implicated by his colleagues. The only thing I want from our PMO is to make an intervention and get him deported from UAE,” said Ankita.
“We are trying our best that Akhilesh gets pardoned on this UAE National Day. I am really worried for his future as well as my daughter and their child. I have heard that the PMO does intervene in such situations and the UAE go nment is very cooperative. Please help,” said Ankita’s father Deep Narayan Pande.

Blasphemy is a much abused law. Such laws have no place in modern societies. France has taken a stand against it. Rest of the world should do the same.
Never ever go to muslim countries , gulf etc. India is best.
Govt should Help the poor guy.
Why shd one go to Middle east when everyone knows these Shekhs will show middle finger to anyone from other religion at drop of hat!
I guess this is not full story, they won't give such harsh terms without any evidence there must be evidence
The UAE court does not punish anyone without proof.. This is not india where you will roam free even doing biggest crime..
UAE Law is equal to one and all. It is the same for the expatriates and its Citizens. There are chances for an appeal to higher courts and everyone is treated with respect by the police and law. This case might have been a serious case of blasphemy with proper documentation.
Respect law , culture, religion and heritage of the Land you are living in.
very unfortunate incident. blasphemy cases are common. one should be very careful about talking about other religion. especially in the Gulf. it is strange how without any evidence he is implicated.
Why shld pm be involved in yur husband's sadistic pleasure... If yu don't like someone or their beliefs just stay away from them in yur Lalaland
This tells about fre m of expression people enjoy in India. If Aamir Khan would have been UAE he would have been jailed for life.
As you sow, so as you reap...
Good job UAE.Never let these hate mongering pests go free with just deportation. 1 crore rs fine and 15 years jail is very good judgment for these back stabbers from a dindu country.
If a pakistani is involved, it must be LIES!!
When you live in another country, you must follow their laws.
this bastad got what he deserves, idi0ts like him go begging to musl!m countries for money and then abuse musl!ms ... may he r0t in for life....
Respect the law of the land you live in. You have gone there for livelihood, if you do not like it just return back to your mother land, why get in trouble somewhere else.
Work in India. No use going outside. They treat you like 2nd grade citizens
