Trump falls further behind Biden and replaces campaign manager amid ridicule over handling of Covid-19

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has replaced his campaign manager after polls showed him falling further behind Democratic challenger Joe Biden in the race for the White House amid growing ridicule for his handling of the coronavirus pandemic.

In a continuing slide for his re-election prospects, Trump is now 15 points behind Biden (52-37) among registered voters, according to a Qupiac University national poll released Wednesday. It is Biden’s biggest lead since surveys began for the November 3 Presidential election; various other polls show Biden leading by 8 to 11 points.

The immediate fallout was the firing of Trump’s campaign manager Brad Parscale and the promotion of his deputy Bill Stepien, although the President softened the blow by saying "Parscale, who has been with me for a very long time and has led our tremendous digital and data strategies, will remain in that role, while being a Senior Advisor to the campaign."

Parscale was also seen as the architect of the Oklahoma rally fiasco that promised a sellout crowd but brought in only about 6000 people to a 19,000-seater stadium, inviting much derision from Trump critics.

The Qupiac poll shows Independents are a key factor behind Biden's widening lead, backing him 51 - 34 percent now, compared to 43-40 in June. Trump is also losing support among Republicans, going down from 94-7 to 84-9. Voters now give Biden a slight lead over Trump (50-45) in a direct match up when it comes to handling the economy, reversing the 51-46 lead Trump held in this sphere.

Critically, Biden now leads Trump on handling a crisis (57-38), on handling healthcare (58-35), on coronavirus response (59-35) and on addressing racial inequality (62-30).

"Yes, there's still 16 weeks until Election Day, but this is a very unpleasant real time look at what the future could be for President Trump. There is no upside, no silver lining, no encouraging trend hidden somewhere in this survey for the president," said Qupiac University Polling Analyst Tim Malloy.

Trump though insists the polls under-represent or undercount his supporters and there is a vast "silent majority" that will turn up to re-elect him. "This one (a second White House bid) should be a lot easier as our poll numbers are rising fast, the economy is getting better, vaccines and therapeutics will soon be on the way, and Americans want safe streets and communities!" he tweeted after ringing in campaign changes.

Trump is the best friend of India. If Biden wins he would promote , Pakistan and Islamic terrorism. Democrats are best friends of .

Point out what did India get from Trump? US is still financing the Pakistan military and businesses. Even after the four years of Trump talks, US trade is at the top. Even India businesses are 99% dependent on CHINA supply!!!

Roopesh Gaddam

Next 4 years will be crucial for US to take head on if not it will be sidelined as a big daddy which US enjoys till now. i feel Biden is more of american version of justin Tradeau and will have the last laugh if he was elected.

Whichever party gives Green Cards for 3 LAKH Indians stuck in the backlogs, will rule the country for next 12 years, non stop.

Common Man

Idi0t those waiting for green card can't vote. Only us citizens can vote

Whats the campaign manager's fault ? Voters see past, present performance to get a glimpse of the future.. postponing the date of election could be on the cards if pandemic is not controlled by then. This may give Trump some more time to close the gap with Biden.

竞选经理有什么错? 选民通过看过去、现在的表现推测未来。如果无法控制疫情,选举日有可能推迟。这可能会给特朗普更多时间来缩小与拜登的差距。

Vande Matram

election date won't change ... Trump doesn't control the election date.

Whoever is responsible for conducting elections will be forced to postphone it if pandemic rages on at that time, as will be impossible to hold voting allover country with social distancing, lockdowns etc..

Majority of Americans will unseat the Fascist liar aka Trump. Indians should do the same with Modi.

Hi is going to be fired soon himself by the U.S voters in November.

vishal dalela

Biden ....... Seriously, does he even remember what year we are in.....

At present no one can say for sure who is going to win and it depend on Electoral college state votes . Some time even if you get more popular votes like Hillary Clinton received 2-3 million more still she could not able to win.

Charanjit Singh

He is the feku of USA.

Election results announced in mid-July?

Early days. For India Trump is better and all India affiliated people should promote Trump

Trump has not been cautious and measured in his comments. He has not shown maturity as a politician. But Biden is a weak candidate against him. Though Biden seems to be matching ahead we can't rule out the possibility of Trump emerging victorious again.

Gugi Canada

Seems Trump is gone in November. Even if he wins Democrats will have huge majority in both houses and Trump will be impeached within 2 years.

Trump favoured India because he wanted to build 7 Trump Towers in India with Feku's help. Thanks to Feku for selling India.

Barret Pytle

"Abkibar NO More Trump Sarkar". The India PM Modi will be in trouble with the US Democrats are in power. I never knew why did PM Modi kissed the Trump's behind? What did he get from Trump other than the brown nose?
