IAF Mig-29 crashes in Punjab's Nawanshahr, pilot ejects safely

NAWANSHAHR: A Mig-29 fighter aircraft of the IAF crashed in Chuharpur village here on Friday after it developed a technical snag, officials said.

纳万斯哈赫尔：官员称，周五印度空军一架米格-29战机出现技术故障，坠毁在旁遮普一村庄。

The pilot ejected safely and has been rescued, they said.

飞行员已安全跳伞逃生，并已获救。

An IAF fighter jet crashed into the fields here, Nawanshahr deputy commissioner Vinay Bublani said.

纳万斯哈赫尔副专员维奈·布布兰奇称，印度空军一架战斗机坠毁在田地里。

The crash took place around 10.30 am, the officials said.

官员称，坠机事故发生在上午10点30分左右。

An IAF spokesperson said the Mig-29 aircraft was on a training mission from an Air Force base near Jalandhar.

印度空军发言人表示，这架米格-29当时正在贾兰达尔附近的一个空军基地执行训练任务。

"The aircraft had developed a technical snag and the pilot ejected safely as he was unable to control the aircraft," he said.

发言人称：“飞机出现了一个技术故障，飞行员无法控制飞机，只好跳伞逃生。”

The official said the pilot has been rescued by a helicopter and a court of inquiry has been ordered to investigate the cause of the accident.

The age old Russian fighter aircrafts should be sent to the scrap yard . Time and again we have been facing huge losses because of these aircrafts ! Thank God the pilot survived ! The old junk planes are so called upgraded with some new parts and ammunition and are called Mig-29K . We have jaguars , Mirage , Rafale and some more made in Europe and America , these aircrafts rarely meet with fatalities ! No wonder MIGs are called flying coffins .
