Indian woman, 74, is thought to be the world's oldest mother after giving birth to twins following IVF to end her six decade-long wait to start a family with her 82-year-old husband

I had my last child at 38 and I think even that was too old. horrible pregnancy I wasn't able mentally or physically and now raising them I'm worn out constantly! Huge difference when I had a child in my twenties

She is NOT the worlds oldest Mother. There are plenty of Mums around the world older than her!!

good for her you should never stop pursuing your dreams no matter what other people say

I'm 65 and there is no way that I am physically or mentally capable of having a baby. I'm thinking that nature curtails women's ability to have a child from 50 (ish) for this very reason

Yes, well, India is short on population after all!?

I knew of someone who did that at 45. By the time the kid was in high school, the parents looked to be in their mid 70's.

Utterly ridiculous and wrong. I had my first child at 36 and about to have my second at 38. I have struggled all through this pregnancy. Nature's way of telling me I'm getting too old for it I think and I'm almost half her age. I understand the desire to have children is strong

At 38 you are not too old to have a child. 38 is a normal age. Ridiculous.

@rabbit: In terms of society, 38 may be becoming a normal age. In terms of nature, it's not.

I'm 36 and currently 34 weeks pregnant with my first - and I'm a mess. I shudder to think about going through this at 46, let alone in my 70s. You just don't have the energy or the youthfulness that someone in their early to mid 20s does.

Just so unfair on to those two babies. For a Doctor to assist in this is ethically and morally wrong

Poor girls could be orphans by the time they are 16! And they will end up taking care of their parents as children. So sad for the babies.

How utterly wrong. She should not be giving birth at her age.
