IAF refutes US journal report that Pakistan didn't lose any F-16

NEW DELHI/WASHINGTON: India on Friday refuted a report in a US publication which contested its claim that a Pakistani F-16 was shot down in the Nowshera sector of Jammu & Kashmir on February 27, saying it was the MiG-21 Bison flown by Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman that brought down the jet.

新德里/华盛顿：周五，印度驳斥了美国出版物的一篇报道，该报道对印度声称的于2月27日在查谟克什米尔瑙谢拉地区击落一架巴基斯坦F-16战机的说法提出了质疑。印度声称，击落这架战机的是空军中校阿比纳丹·瓦尔塔曼驾驶的米格-21野牛。

India rubbished claims that all of Pakistan’s US-origin fighter jets were accounted for and that this was done at the behest of the US authorities with the IAF stressing it had enough credible evidence to show an F-16 did not return to its base in Pakistan after the aerial skirmish, even if direct corroboration was not possible as the jet crashed in PoK.

美方称，已对巴基斯坦所有美国产战机进行了清点，没有发现任何一架失踪。对此印度予以驳斥，印度空军强调，有足够可信的证据表明，爆发冲突后，有一架F-16未返回巴基斯坦基地。由于飞机在巴控克什米尔坠毁，所以无法获直接证实。

The evidence marshalled by IAF ranged from “electronic signatures” captured by an Indian Phalcon AWACs aircraft and ground radar stations, which showed the blip of an F-16 suddenly vanishing from the screens, to intercepted radio transmissions and “physical sightings” of two parachutes coming down in the Sabz Kot and Tandar areas in PoK.
