Before humans, 'humanoids' to do experiments in space
BENGALURU: India may not be testing systems being built as part of the Gaganyaan project with animals, but the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) will have a humanoid-a robot resembling a human-conducting a handful of experiments in space on two occasions before actually sending humans by 2022.
"The humanoid is almost ready," Isro chairman K Sivan TOI, adding: "...We want to make sure that this mission serves a purpose beyond displaying our ability to send humans and bring them back safely."
ISRO主席K Sivan 称:“人形机器人差不多准备好了，这项任务的目的不仅仅只是展示我们将人类送上太空并将其安全带回的能力。”
He said that Isro will fly the humanoid in both the unmanned flights planned before the actual human spaceflight mission. "Our robot will be like a human, and be able to do whatever a man can do, although not as extensively as humans. We want to show that even the first flight will not go empty and also ensure that we utilise the opportunity in the maximum way. We have our own humanoid model that will be used," he said.
The TOI had reported first about the space agency looking at experiments from at least 10 areas ranging from testing medical equipment in space to micro-biological experiments such as biological air filters and biosensors, and from life support and biomedical waste management to monitoring toxic gases.
The space agency has already received more than 40 proposals from various research institutes, and they will now be evaluated by a committee of experts, which will decide on which of them will finally be conducted in space. "

ISRO please send Pappu Gandhi to space as he looks like HUMANOID and he doesn't belong to this world. Send him to where he belongs to...

Why can''t ISRO use Pappu for experiments and send him to moon first and leave him there????!! It''s the only way he can serve our country I believe.

With so much of population you could.have actually picked a human being, why humanoid. Anyway we do not value anything in excess. Worst case that human may have died, but who cares

We have statues to send in space ...

India is wasting money by spending so much on space programmes and building statues. Look at the conditions of Indian roads,Indian railways, health care systems, poverty, unemployment, food adulteration, rape capital, crime.those promoting vegetarianism should know that most of the vegetarian food is adulterated including milk products.

How about sending Mayavati, Mulayam, Amit Shah? Why waste money on humanoid?
Deepali Tibrewal Agrawal - 2 days ago -Follow
ISRO has a 100 percent track record and this time it would better that, we have been achieving feats for quite some time now

Why waste a humanoid? Send RaGa. He will perform similar to the robot though not as intelligently.

why not real human being which are waste on this Indian earth to Start with the great PAPPU then MAYA, MAMTA, SONIA, CHIDAMBARAM,AKHILESH etc , we lot in inventory for trial before sending real and competent person into space.

We have full faith in ISRO and it will do the best and pass this test too with flying colours, we are proud of our space research agency

Although intention is laudable, using nonliving thing to test sending humans in space is absurd and highly unscientific. Hope this is false news cause we don''t expect such basic mistake from ISRO

Please fit some sensors such as 3D motion sensor, camera on the humanoid so that you could acquire valuable data as to what happens to the person sitting inside the module in terms of vibration, forces, etc.
