The Research Designs and Standards Organisation on Monday said the trial run of indigenously developed engineless train -- 'Train 18' -- was successfully conducted up to 115 kmph on tracks in Moradabad division of Northern Railway.

the Train 18 will now be sent to Kota division in West Central Railways for validating its performance at its designed speed of 160 kmph.

据报道,印度自主研发的火车“Train 18 ”在北方铁路局莫拉达巴德路段成功跑出了115公里每小时的速度。

“Train 18 ”将被送往中西铁路局验证其在160公里每小时的最大设计时速下的性能。

This 16 coach train costs Rs.100 crores , so each coach costs Rs. 6.25 cr. Its true that it needs no separate engine. It is still under testing & needs advanced tracks which are still being laid.Two years ago, a Spanish Co. Talgo had offered its lightweight hi-tech coaches, of proven technology, capable of speeds upto 180 kmph on our ESTING tracks for Rs.3.5 crores each. These Talgo coaches had successful test runs in India two years ago.Talgo had offerred to manufacture these coaches in India if they got a sufficient order. Local manufacture would have made their coaches even cheaper, almost half of the cost of Train 18 coaches

16节车厢造价是10亿卢比,也就是说每节车厢价格为6250万卢比。

不需要独立的牵引车头,仍然在试验中,需要额外铺设铁轨。

2年前,西班牙的Talgo公司也说要为印度造轻型的高科技列车,技术已经成熟可靠,最高速度可达180公里每小时,可以在现有铁路上跑,造价是每列3500万卢比。

2年前,Talgo火车已经在印度成功试跑了。

Talgo提出,如果订单足够多,可以考虑在印度生产。

一旦本地产,成本会进一步降低,能压缩到“Train 18”成本的一半

To run at 160-230 kmh you need special tracks. Just like gatiman also needs special tracks to run at 160kmh. That’s part of the reason why no train in India can run beyond 160kmh. Talgo could hit 180kmh when you run 9 coaches.

Double the number of coaches and no way you can hit that speed. Yes because it’s aluminum it can run faster on the exsting tracks. But it’s not practical. Besides it’s 4 inches lower in height and that’s an issue with Indian platforms

要跑160-230公里的时速,需要专门铺设铁轨

如果是9节车厢重联,Talgo能跑出180公里的时速。

如果是18节车厢重联,速度达不到那么高。

另外,Talgo列车矮4英寸,不能对接印度站台,这是个问题。

If one coach malfunctions, the whole rake becomes unusable temporarily.This would be a problem not just in India,but the world over.But we know that Talgo coaches are operating successfully all over the world,specially in Europe.
