NEW DELHI: A 66-foot deck of a bridge in south Kolkata collapsed + on Tuesday evening, snuffing out one life, trap several people and crushing many vehicles. The bridge is over 40 years old.

9月4日晚上，加尔各答南部一座桥梁坍塌，一人死亡，多人受困，多辆车被砸。据悉，这座桥已经有40年历史了。

BRIDGE AFTER BRIDGE: This is the second major bridge collapse this year after Varanasi in which 18 people lost their lives and the fifth big one in the last two years.

一座桥接着一座桥坍塌：继瓦拉纳西致18人丧生的大桥坍塌后，这是今年第二座大桥坍塌，也是过去两年里印度第5座大桥坍塌。

In 2016, an under-construction flyover had collapsed on Vivekananda Road in Kolkata killing 27 people. In the same year, 22 people died when a British-era bridge on the Mumbai-Goa highway collapsed.

2016年，加尔各答一座正在施工的天桥坍塌，导致27人死亡。同一年，从孟买往果阿邦公路上一座英殖民时代修建的桥梁坍塌，导致22人死亡。

THE PROBLEM: The issue is that bridges have a shelf life and require regular monitoring, audit and maintenance. But this critical aspect has been ignored by authorities - it's not been as high on priority as the tenders for new bridges.

问题在于桥梁是有设计使用年限的，需要定期监控和维护。然而这被当局忽视了。

India bridges are unsafe because it is built by corrupted nehru gandhi. majority of our iconic bridges that are still functioning are British era , even our corrupted gandhi could not do the maintenance and they are falling apart killing people regularly !!

There are so many bridges built during British rule still standing strong all over India. But 20 yr old, 30 yr old, under construction bridges are collapsing. What is wrong?? Our engineers, designs, materials, corrupt system...??? Both BJP and Congress just want to loot money.

而我们自己修建的只有20年、30年历史、或者正在修建的桥梁一座接着一座地坍塌。

1) obvious reason is corruption but there is another root cause, all engineers in govt department are not engineers by merit but due to caste xyz quota who are engineers today bcoz of quota and not by merit and so how can u expect quality

明眼人都能看到的是腐败问题，不过还有另一个根源，就是政府部门的工程师不是择优录取的，而是靠种姓预留名额进去的。
