BHIWANDI: Six people are dead and around 20 are trapped in a three-floor building collapse in Bhiwandi near Mumbai on Sunday morning.
Police and fire officials managed to rescue 25 people, police said.
The Kabir building, situated in Garibi Nagar area in Bhiwandi, was said to be in poor condition. At around 9.15am, it came crashing down all of a sudden.
Bhiwandi Nizampura municipal corporation officials said the building was on the 'dangerous' list and a notice had also been issued to the concerned authorities.
Human life is cheap in India. Thats why there are no safety codes and if there are, they are not enforced.
Now don''t waste tax payers money to pay compensation to the victims who must have continued to stay despite perilous state of building.
Such type of accidents will be there if dilapidated house are not demolished by the Government
nothing new, the areas where the katvas live always faces this issue in monsoons. even if the municipalities put evacuation notice then also they will drag themselves and out lives in danger.
The attitude of the officials will be like "Only 6 people died"
The main reason for them to occupy even a dilapidated building is, that the middle class occupants cant find an alternate within their means of earning nor they are in a position to buy a new one
Regret the loss of lives and all those in trouble due to this unfortunate accident.
If the notice was served, no compensation to the victims. Set an example for others.
If the occupants are poor at the time of evacuation authorities should provide them temporary accommodation for say more than a month so that they have time to find some place to live in or arrange some money to rebuild the demolished structure.
Take the legal process against builder and engineer
Very sad... Continuous rain might be d reason...
