MUMBAI: A dog was spotted on the Mumbai airport runway which led to temporary suspension of flight operations for about 20 minutes.
The runway was shut down from 3.08pm to 3.39pm, said an airport official. Four aircraft that were in a holding pattern for landings one after the other were asked to do a go-around. An inspection was carried out and the canine was clearing off the runway.
The incident affected flight operations delaying departures and arrivals. However, since it didn't occur during the peak hours, the operations were back to normal soon. The Mumbai airport is surrounded by slums and there have been several instances of runway intrusions in the past as well.

We talk of sealing our borders to stop infiltration by terrorists but we have not been able to seal even our airports of uninvited guests to intrude the runways.....God bless our country........!!
Completely a case of negligence from authorities...
Dog menace at all airports should be cleared immediately
In Mumbai, if you hit those dog or chase away police will take to to jail. Even if they bite or bark aggressively at your kid.

Who pays for lost opportunity, time and money due to delay? Somebody needs to be made accountable and action taken appropriately.
Mumbai is India's busiest and one of Asia's busiest airports. really wonder why and how such things happen in Mumbai? 1st of all it is located at a dangerously vulnerable location in between the Dharavi slums. Really wonder

The slums around the Mumbai Airport need to be removed as they do seem a security risk with most of the houses being multistory near the boundary of the Airport.
