外文标题：India remains world's largest arms importer
NEW DELHI: India continues with its embarrassing trudge on the world stage as the largest arms importer, which also makes it strategically vulnerable. A global thinktank on Monday said India's weapons imports are now three times larger than its neighbours China and Pakistan as well as cash-rich Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
The latest data on international arms transfers released by Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) shows India accounted for 15% of the global arms imports from 2010 to 2014. "Between 2005-2009 and 2010-2014, India's arms imports increased by 140%. In 2005-2009, India's imports were 23% below China's and just over double those of Pakistan," SIPRI said.
this will change in next five years after success of Make in India concept.
Most inefficient and corrupt Dept's are controlled by govt. If manufacturing is privatised India will suddenly change to exporting country. All govts have looted the country and ruled by dividing people on caste and religion lines.
Increase in import of weapons is the last thing India wants. This is a well laid trap by developed nations to suck the money from India.

Political people get cuts in each and every arm deal, thats why did not allow the domestic industry to grow on various excuses. Let's see what NM does now.
The reason for this is not pakis but since every one look this as national security need, which allows politician to grab their share of income and bribes.

This is high time India should start developing indigenous arms to rely less on imports.

I recently read that Saudi has become the largest arms importer
No nation can become a super power or even a regional super power on the basis of importing arms. Blackies are just piling up substandard junk from all over the world in a desire to become a so called super power. Displaying the imported military might to China and expecting China to support Blackies becoming a permanent member of UN SC. Just a small veto from China is enough to make them return into their senses.
