外文标题：Won't privatize Indian Railways: PM Narendra Modi
VARANASI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday ruled out the privatization of the Indian Railways. Addressing a gathering in Varanasi at Diesel Locomotives Work (DLW) in the presence of railway minister Suresh Prabhu, Modi pitched his 'Make in India' campaign once again and asked "why can't India produce what it needs?"
Highlighting the importance he wanted to give to the railways, Modi talked about setting up four railway universities to boost the capabilities of the Indian Railways, which in turn would make the nation go forward. The Prime Minister emphasized on making the railways the backbone of India's economic development.
"What we want to do is to put more money for development of railways. This will help," he added.
Pitching the 'Make in India' campaign, Modi said Indians needed to focus on their own capabilities."We have asked the youth to make in India," he said. He also added that defence requirements needed to be met in India itself.

It is quite surprising news that Modji does not want to privatise Indian Railways at least partially so that we can get good toilets and better service in the trains, booking of tickets without getting into hands of black marketers. There are many areas in the vast network of Indian Railways where private participation may be good both to the passengers and to the Government.

I would prefer privatisation, because look at the railway stations they are filthy, unprotectd, its like everyone has an open door from their house to enter railway station. very unsafe.

Mr Modi must first rethink the business relation with China. They give sub-standard material, challenge us on the border and in high seas. Is there any compelling reason why we should go with them for the "Bullet train" ?
