外文标题：33 killed as bomb blast rumour sparks stampede during Dussehra celebrations in Patna
PATNA: At least 33 people, most of them women and children, were killed and 26 injured in a stampede at Gandhi Maidan during Vijaya Dashmi celebrations on Friday. Panic stricken people ran amok in confusion after an electric pole snapped with a loud bang, leading many to believe a bomb had gone off.
In the melee and the darkness that followed due to power cut, which was soon after the effigies of Ravan, Kumbhakaran and Meghnad were burnt, heart-rending scenes of dead and injured being rushed to hospital were witnessed, perhaps even by Bihar chief minister Jitan Manjhi who was the chief guest at the function.
The stampede took place around 6.30pm when the crowd started leaving the venue. The incident happened near the Ram Goolam Chowk near the Exhibition Road turning.
Principal secretary (home) Amir Subhani said more than 100 people were injured with 33 killed and 26 in the emergency ward of the PMCH.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and home minister Rajnath Singh spoke to Manjhi about the tragedy. Modi announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the relatives of those killed and the Bihar CM announced Rs 3 lakh each.
When we learn from past mistakes?
The rumors were spread by some terrorist organization to kill innocent people on the auspicious eve of Dushera. Bihar is a heaven for Zihadi groups like IM, SIMI etc..

Ill trained Police and callous administration which worries for the VIPs only results in repeated tragedies of this nature.
Crowd control is not a strong point of our police.

This is what happens when a lousy and callous govt is in charge of the State. The whole police force was employed for its Chief Mibisters"s security leaving the people at God's mercy. Shame on Nitish ,Manjhi & Lalu supported govt.of Bihar

If a bomb food really go off, and if you are still in fact, where is the need for panicking ? Stay wherever you are, think calmly on how to get out of the place without shoving or pushing others.
