原文标题：US, China to lead global tech innovation
While India has made significant progress on innovation front, the US and China will remain at the forefront of global technological innovation with the cloud-enabled consumer technology and business transformation for enterprises leading the chart, a KPMG survey has said.
"Technology executives worldwide believe that China and the US will be at the forefront of technological innovation, with the cloud technology enabling both the next indispensable consumer technology and business transformation for enterprises," it said.
According to the survey, mobile technologies will continue to build on the cloud platform, providing breakthroughs to transform businesses.
The 'Global Innovation Survey' by the consulting giant pointed out that India has also made significant progress in the path of innovation.
KPMG surveyed executives from technology industry start-ups, mid-sized to large enterprises, venture capital firms and angel investors to identify disruptive technologies.
"India has made substantial and rapid strides on the path of innovation-based development and managed to adapt and implement a number of measures to support this development," it said.
The Indian Government has also invested significantly in technology. Communication technology like 3G has already made a mark in the country and the introduction of 4G will be a key enabler for most of the businesses, the survey said.
"The cloud platform has been leveraged and several e-governance initiatives have been launched. While the government is one of the primary pillars to drive innovation and cutting-edge technology, involvement of the private sector is equally important for swift and effective enablement," the survey said.
The survey report said China will challenge the leadership of US in the field of technological innovation.
"There will be a potential challenge to Silicon Valley's position as technology innovation centre," it said, listing Apple as the top innovator in the world followed by Google and Microsoft.

That's pooor considering the environment around us. We sit in A/C with uninterrupted power supply, get used to high end laptops/desktops and enjoy delicious food in cafeteria.
Because of this we have to rent a home @30K which takes 40% of net take home salary. We cannot continue to buy the latest smartphones which are costing 40K. We cannot continue to takeup airtel broadband which is costing 2.9K per month. We cannot dine in the restaurants in our locality for 3 meals per day and 30 days per month, because each meal costs an average of 400 bucks. We cannot afford to save much to buy a Honda Civic for 13 lakhs. We cannot think of saving anything to buy a luxury home for 1.5 crores
Life is so misearable. That's why IT engineers are poor. We need a salary of 40 lakhs per annum to sustain our living. Government should think about us.
Communism vs democracy

Hard work coupled with communism created the wonder of modern China.Democracy is good only for less populated countries like in the west.
India hs become a big hypocrisy rather than a democracy over the years.

India is dynasty based democracy, which in true sense mocks the fundamental idea of democracy.
It's just not about Gandhis; every Indian politician makes sure his next generation gets all the election tickets.

how can a backward nation like china make so much progress? india which boasts having the second largest english speaking population after usa, with such prestigous institutions like IIT's & IIM's which are patterned on the well known western universities, lag behind china, where hardly a few thousands/lakhs can speak english go ahead of us? i think it is hard work and nationalist feelings amongst the chinese which is prodding them ahead, which at the present rate is making even the usa uncomfortable.

The point is that the JEE/IITs are over hyped. Mostly the hype comes from within IITs (alumni, students) but sometimes dumb people take it at face value and don't probe further to find the reality. IITs are below even Pakistani Tech universities.

Backward? that sounds like india. Shiet in public, no clean water, no electricity, low literacy rate... you name it.

Our great IITs & NITs are all failed to produce Innvative engineers. They take huge fund from Govt. & nothing will be contributed for growth of country. They are just like any other ordinary College.

My brother-in-law recently got his ph.d from the US.My father attended the final ceremony. He was surprised to see that 70% of the other pass-out ph.d's were chinese!
The chinese started out with copying the technologies of others and now they have reached the stage of being global leaders in innovation!
All this time,Indians and others have been deriding them for copy-catting and otherwise while the chinese quietly built their nation to become the second most powerful nation in the world.
Learn from them instead of being derisive to them.

"Shenzou 9", the CHINESE space shuttle just landed safely in the inner regions of Mongolia this morning. This brings them closer to sending man to the moon by 2020. CHINESE now are the third in SPACE TECH after the U.S.A. and former SOVIET UNION.
IITians are not competant
by Praveen Kulkarni (View MyPage) on Jun 29, 2012 09:58 AM
We have good institutions like IITs & NITs , but they are not capable to produce world class engeneers, they are not able to get single patent in field of technology. They cannot match with engineers of China / USA. They simply blame politicians.

India can do wonders, but our politicians and bureacrats are biggest hurdle, they do not want any reform in their working, want to take technological advantage only.

Why in india IIT has not produced any Steve Jobs?
by greatbihar (View MyPage) on Jun 29, 2012 12:14 PM | Hide replies
This question was asked by many duffers who could not able to make in to IIT even after 3 attempts.
Now the answer is if you have good quality seeds of Apple but if you don't plant these seeds in fertile land and if you don't regularly give water to these Good Quality seeds then these seeds will never become the Apple tree.
It has been proved that IItians are very successful in USA but in india they are not successful because here the organization is filled with dirty people who are expert in dirty politics and will never allow any one to be successful.
In USA if any one do good job, have talent then Americans always promote those people but in india reverse happens,if any one do good job, have talent then everyone starts to pull him down.
in india what matters most is your caste and state rest is just useless.

How many Chinese scientists/ engineers/ pioneers do you know? I am sure None. You got it??
Stop being a monkey and copying the West. Either do reverse engineering or create on your own.
IITs are worse than White elephants

IITs where started by congress to make indian engineers who would ultimately serve the west at huge costs to the common man.
And this has what has happened for the past 5 decades. 99% of the IIT engineers have gone to the US and help them invent more things which the west has used to dominate, suppress the rest of the world and made huge money in the process. Except very few engineers(.01%) IITs have not only NOT given anything back to their motherland but have infact helped the west suppress India.
The same thing is now happening and being done by the so called NRIs(US,Gulf,Canada) who are putting pressure on the government to depreciate the rupee to make them more rich at huge expense(extreme inflation, cost of living) of the common man. The media is of course controlled by the west and the export lobbies who support the same.

In fact it is already flying and costs only 50 million dollars. You just cant notice it.

I work in the Air conditioning industry where 5 out of 10 products now come from china. Most of indian products or from any other country put these labels and sell. The chinese products are cheap and state of art tech. Each year they churn products with new excellent features and prices are stable.

IT is the culprit for us being left behind

IT industry is virtually killing the manufacturing sector. This is a disaster as most of engineering regardless of any branch are hired by these outsources who are doing these odd jobs of the west. Govt spends millions on these eng gradutes whose jobs can are done by ordinary graduates with good training. In the end after all these years claiming that we are best place for IT, how many microsofts, googles or Oracles have we created?

I dont blame IT for it.. But yes, manufacturing sector is neglected in India.
