外文标题：Two Chinese nationals held with sandalwood at Mumbai airport
MUMBAI: Two Chinese nationals were held at Mumbai international airport while allegedly trying to smuggle sandalwood worth more than Rs 1.5 lakh to Hong Kong, a Customs official said on tuesday.
According to Customs, Chinese duo Yang Yingbin and Chen Ziteng were at the Chhatrapati Shivaji international airport on Friday to catch a flight to Hong Kong.
But as they excited the suspicion of airport security, a search was carried out of their luggage, which yielded 40kg sandalwood worth Rs 1,53,600, the official said.
The duo were allegedly trying to smuggle the sandalwood out to Hong Kong, he added.
“After a preliminary inquiry, the duo was handed over to forest department for further questioning,” the officer said.

If it were to be an Indian to be doing this in China, he would be locked up for a long time. These two should be put behind bars and adequate punishment should be given

Poor Chinese guys they couldn’t understand custom officer’s demand for money in Hindi language ended up being detained. Next time they should learn a little bit of Hindi and tell the custom officer – ‘Kitna Paisa Chahiye Bolo. Main Utna Dedunga’. They will be let off immediately once the deal is struck..

I think the two Chinese nationals went through the bad channel. The value of the sandalwood seized is peanuts.

They are just two small smuggler who might have been used as bait for bigger coup. China has already taken away all the Redwood and a lot of Sandalwood through one way or the other. Indian craftsmen, specially in Rajasthan have started EARNING THEIR LIVING THROUGH OTHER professions, as the wood is becoming scarce and costly day by day. This is one of thousands of problems, which should be solved rather than sending a satellite to Mars.
