DSC03ddf (11)

From there we walked to the river bank. It was awfully hot, humid and overcrowded. It was as dirty as Marine Drive. It was quite dirty in contrast to Shanghai but was cleaner than any other Indian town still it was quite a come down. There were signs of litter but no stink of urine or excreta. In every city functional toilets are easily available around everywhere. I clicked some pictures of the bridge over the river but couldn’t get good shots.People were sitting by the river embankment. A continuous walkway stretched all along the river and even though it was well d with flowery bushes, trees and grassy stretches but was dimly lit and not up to the standards I had got used to seeing and expect in China. Some people were playing giant tops which needed skilful whip with giant whips to keep them sning. They were being played by as many women if not more than the men who were playing them. Women here, I would assert are far superior than their men folk, though in my case it’s true even in Indian context but most of my brethren will disagree if their better halves don’t read their oions they thrust upon their gullible henpecked fellow bloggers. Jokes apart they can tear the egos if any of the men apart and outsmart them in every field they choose to compete in. Sincerely there is no comparison as men are no match to the women here. From ordinary skilled fitters to highly skilled engineers, pilots, bus drivers, train drivers, they do everything and keep their children( In most cases it’s one child, though this policy is fairly relaxed now) tidy and well fed and their husbands up This nation I would say is progressing because the women are doing better than anything the men are doing and the skilled work force of this country as compared to any other nation is 2:1.

DSC03ddf (14) DSC03ddf (15)The hels in China are very reasonably priced. We stayed in one of the good hels available in the town (not a five star hel) and we out of curiosity asked the room rents and were surprised to know that it was around three hundred yuan which works out to be around 2100 rupees. In India these days you can’t even stay in a good Dharamsh at this price. The places are immaculately clean in China and people dress up well irrespective of their financial status and their jobs.

Very dark clouds gathered in the morning threatening to upset our programme. By the time the driver came to pick us up, it was raining heavily. We put our bags in the dickey and started off nevertheless. The car drove through the roads along the river and the scenery started becoming picturesque as the city line merged with the horizon. The driver did not understand a word of English but this has stopped bothering me long since.

Mr. Navneet..

Wuhan kahaan hai? Oh China mai....

I come to know now only that a city by such name ests in China...

Photographs and hard working culture of the people and your positive attitudes induce me to have a trip to China at least before expiry... ha ha

I have read that from other travelogues that Chinese are really industrious and do keep the place neat and clean....

Informative travelogue..

Owner's Pride , Neighbours Envy... ( Owner... China .. Neighbour.. India )

navneetkumarbakshi

Thanks Asir- You must visit China once to see to believe.

Navneet

vnmenon20

Beautiful photos!

Wonderul narration!

Shall put Wuhan on top of my list!

Cheers

Menon

navneetkumarbakshi

Thanks Menon Sahib- Must visit China if you haven't visited still. Wuhan ofcourse is not a top tourist spot. If you visit China there be a long list of other places taking precedence. Guilin, Huangzuo, Suzo, Shanghai, Beig and many more.

Navneet

Dear Navneet,
Chinese on the march and you are lucky to be witnessing it.
Thanx fro sharing your experiences with us with some excellent pictures.
Li Na the new brand name for Wuhan!

navneetkumarbakshi

Thanks for your visit. It indeed is very inspiring to see the Chinese on a march to prosperity. Whatever the world might say about fre m and h an ri hts. Yes discipline, strict law and order, stability in go nment are very important for the progress of a nation but inspiration is intrinsic part of character.

ghaz

Hi,

I super enjoyed this post. Bhabiji looks ekdum fit. My 'adab' to her.
If I ever go to china i will die shop. Took a long look at the colorful
slipper photu :p

navneetkumarbakshi

Thanks Ghaz, I have conveyed your adab to her sitting next to me, watching TV and eating nuts while I am having a glass of wine. I was worrying that such a beautiful blog written and posted effortfully may go in to oblivion unnoticed. I have so many photos but so difficult to put up the picture blogs.

jaijui

navneet
, i absolutely love it when u post pictures and write stuff about China
i have learnt so much from u even changed my oion of China and the Chinese
many thanks
jaijui

navneetkumarbakshi

I changed my oion before deciding to change that of the others. We know so little about the real China, I thought. We might criticize the go nment as co unist and cite h an ri hts violations and curbs on fre m of exp ion etc but the real China is it warm, loving, simple hard working and dedicated people. Policies alone don't make a nation successful, nor the rehotrics do, it's the contribution of the common people that makes the difference.

Hi Navneet
I enjoyed your post thoroughly, had been to Wuhan and yes, while I was trying to present my experiences of China I remember receiving malicious comments which I had instantly erased. Appreciating the people do not mean that one is an out co unist. I am in no way one such but I could not help admiring the country & people. I know China has one of the ancient sophisticated culture in the world that had a tally with ancient India but everything has been jeopardised by ignorant invaders...they try to manipulate maul history to suit own ends and present the rich heritage of Asia as zero... a la Cambodia!
Thanks for sharing Ether

navneetkumarbakshi

Hello Ether- Nice to see you after a long time. People have to see China to believe. Sirf baatein karane se kuchh nahin achieve hota. Will Lokpal bill make India a different nation? Can we compare ourselves with China. I have written a lot here and will as long as I live here. Read the comment I posted here in reply to Jaijui's comment.

Navneet
I clearly follow your thoughts and feelings but for our country - no matter how clumsy we maybe we are still really free! Ofcourse I am full praise and admiration for China but personally cannot come to terms as following po itics. Surely I would not be fault finding either about China - not the type to poke my nose in other people's internal affairs but Chinese Progress do need kudos, which may not be because of co sm but the determination of the people. Other countries in the World has seen prosperity minus co unists.. As for Indian backwardness and empty arrogance it is some other mysterious reason...
Keep posting

Fully agrees with you Jayshree.. F cannot be bargained. Here people can't speak, can't prest ag inst go nment decisions. Even in India chahe aap ki sunvayee na ho lekin yeh ehsaas ki mera haq hai is quite relieving.
