中越高铁隧道竣工

With the last tunnel drilled through on Tuesday, the construction of a railway that will allow Chinese high-speed trains to reach the China-Vietnam border has made a significant step forward.

随着最后一条隧道于周二贯通,中国通往中越边境的高铁建设取得了重大进展。

The 46.9-kilometer railway will link the cities of Fangchenggang and Dongng, both in south China's Guang Zhuang Autonomous Region. Trains on the line can run at a design speed of 200 km per hour, and the travel time between the two cities will be cut. The line will eventually boost trade and exchanges between China and Southeast Asian countries.

这条全长46.9公里的铁路连接广西的防城港和东兴。这条铁路的设计运行速度为每小时200公里,通车后两座城市之间的旅行时间将缩短。这条线路最终将促进中国和东南亚国家之间的贸易和交流。

This railway project managed by both countries should forge ahead with the goodwill between two close neighbours and present to the world about the importance of coestence where both countries could cooperate for mutual benefits for its people. @X Z It would be cher to plan ahead and design the tunnels and viaducts to be suitable for higher speed trains in future. Even if you have to completely lay new track, if you don’t have to adjust much else the cost of upgrading are much lower.

提前规划,成本更低啊。设计隧道和高架桥可以跑更高速度的列车。

技术完全铺设新的铁路,如果不需要调整太多,升级的成本会很低的。

There is a costs-benefits equation which determine whether a HSR should be built. There's no point building a HSR when cutting travel time between A and B does not bring economic benefits. Often, the ability to travel between them in a reasonable time is enough to generate a huge benefit.
