China-Vietnam high-speed railway's tunnel construction completed at border
With the last tunnel drilled through on Tuesday, the construction of a railway that will allow Chinese high-speed trains to reach the China-Vietnam border has made a significant step forward.
The 46.9-kilometer railway will link the cities of Fangchenggang and Dongng, both in south China's Guang Zhuang Autonomous Region. Trains on the line can run at a design speed of 200 km per hour, and the travel time between the two cities will be cut. The line will eventually boost trade and exchanges between China and Southeast Asian countries.
It would be great if I can take that train one day, traveling through Asia.
Great to see China-Vietnam ties steadily improving. Keep it up!
Are they? Vietnam says GTFO of its exclusive economic zone
VN love china
All those HSR lines require huge amounts of ricity.
This railway project managed by both countries should forge ahead with the goodwill between two close neighbours and present to the world about the importance of coestence where both countries could cooperate for mutual benefits for its people. Border conflicts can be resolved easily and under control when the two countries cooperate to improve their respective economies without fear but mutual trusts and understanding could pave the way for greater prosperity and peace among all ASEAN nations
The US was the No. 1 country in the world 200 years ago. 3 Potus had slogan for Americans. Pivot Asia, MAGA, BB
China plays the game Civilization, while Murica plays Command & Conquer.
China can play civilization online with 5G connection while traveling 200km an hour while US still have to play at home
I can't imagine going 200 mph. It is daunting
Gun Sum Wong
It is kph. One 1.6 kilometer is about one mile. Roughly 200kph x 0.6 = 120mph. It is the threshold for classifying HSR
是公里。一英里等于1.6公里。200kph x 0.6 = 120mph。至少要这个速度，才能被称为高铁。
@Gun Sum Wong I can imagine that. When I was little, there were no speed limits in iowa. My dad would gun it up over 100 and say, "Don't tell your mom."
I was born in Vietnam and have vivid memories of taking the steam trains...
How great to see both nations overcome so much hardships caused by the west and forge ahead like this.
great.. more chinese imported goods can now be transported to vietnam efficiently like never before
The railway extends forward all the way to Saigon.
From Saigon to Phnom Penh, then to Bangkok connect to the fast railway Kunming- Vientiane, Bangkok. Also split one way to Yangkun go up north back to Kunming.
It is not Saigon. Call it Ho Chi Minh City.
I hope China has thought ahead and made the route pentially suitable for even higher speed trains and freight.
If necessary, China can build a second faster railway.
@X Z It would be cher to plan ahead and design the tunnels and viaducts to be suitable for higher speed trains in future. Even if you have to completely lay new track, if you don’t have to adjust much else the cost of upgrading are much lower.
@X Z Yes the pential for higher speeds between Beig and Hanoi would be beneficial to both countries.
There is a costs-benefits equation which determine whether a HSR should be built. There's no point building a HSR when cutting travel time between A and B does not bring economic benefits. Often, the ability to travel between them in a reasonable time is enough to generate a huge benefit.

As usual China is doing what should be done. Other countries can talk about, wait for and debate the same thing
China will regret building this rail line when the Vietnamese come charging along it.
Tinh Hoang Van
you build , but we pay for it .
I doubt Not many Vietnamese can afford to buy the tickets and want to ride it to go to China .
Don't be sad.
the tickets is often very ch
yeah i hope Vietnam have learned their lesson
