Go nment targets Rs 1.3 lakh crore from rail, telecom assets
NEW DELHI: The go nment is targeting half its asset monetisation target of Rs 2.5 lakh crore from railways and telecom
In the Budget, finance minister Nirm Sitharn announced a massive asset monetisation initiative after the go nment had failed to move on the path for several years, prompting Prime Minister Narendra Modi to set an ambitious target, which has to be met over the next three to four years.
Asset monetisation and privatization are the two key focus areas of the 2021-22 Budget, which aim at bringing about a complete shift in the economy to make it more efficient, and provide space for the private sector to help in the recovery.
Following the PM’s push, NITI Aayog has been tasked with preparing the roadmap and also given the mandate to tie-up with ministries. After deliberations with ministries and departments it has fixed a Rs 90,000 crore target for the railways, seen as a laggard, with a focus on modernizing stations and launching private trains.
Separately, telecom towers owned by state-owned loss-making BSNL and MTNL — again, in the pipeline for years — and their optic fibre infrastructure are proposed to be monetised to mop-up around Rs 40,000 crore.
If congress did nothing as sanghis cm, where are these assets coming from which the govt is selling to fill its coffers ?

Very good well done Modi keep selling India to your friend's carry on until people of india kick you out of power
Unfortunately, Feku, aka Surrender Modi, is trying to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs. Even if some of our assets are not in a good shape, we still need to put a fair price tag on them. On top of that, Feku and his gang of Double A (Ambani and Adani) must be banned from bidding for our assets.
This lady does not fit the job of the finance minister. Someone sensible needs to be handed over this portfolio.

on one hand modi says Congress did nothing for 70 years, but selling off assets created by Congress. Shame Shame.
Sell the telecom to Ambanis and Railways to Adanis.
BJP can sell the Go nment of india to USA or any other country and earn more amount then it can think off
BJP does not know how to run the economy.
BJPs survival depends on pleasing their corporate masters.
Asset monetization? why don't you directly called it "sale of public properties"?
whatever was saved after independence is being spent in last 10 years. so when will u start saving again.
Desh Ke Aage Kuch Nahi
This Gov't on paper says a lot of things, but on ground they have just been making Indian economy puppet of few corporate companies. Indian Rupee is at all time low, Unemployment is at all time high, Fuel prices and Inflation has skyrocketed, Relationship with our neighbouring countries is at all time low and we say Modiji has failed, Bhakto ki sun lo bhai Acche din aa gye hain
They will sell everything and siphon money in the name of infrastructure development. They will make country bankrupt.
India’s richest man Mukesh Ambani has become doubly richer within the first four years under the Modi go nment. Between 2014 and 2019, his wealth more than doubled –from about $23 billion to $55 billion. This means that Mukesh Ambani accumulated more wealth in the five years of BJP rule than all the wealth he made and inherited in the entire 58 years of his life before Modi became Prime Minister.
MESSED UP THE ECONOMIC AND FINANCIAL CONDITION OF THE COUNTRY
Better privatise govt itself as its loss making too.
What will be left to sell after 4 years Madam? You are burning house to have light.
