Talks with Pak only on Afghanistan, won’t hurt India ties: Russia
NEW DELHI: While increasing Russian engagement with Pakistan has been worrisome for India, Russian authorities assured India during foreign secretary Harsh Shringla's Moscow visit this week that their exchanges with Pakistan have centred only around developments in Afghanistan and the role of Taliban in it. Moscow assured Shringla its relationship with Pakistan will not ime at all on ties with India or be detrimental to India's security interests, said official sources.
During the visit, Indian authorities pitched for Russian involvement in the Indo-Pacific as they made the point that the initiative wasn't just about Quad that is seen by Moscow as China-centric.
Russia's suspicions about the Indo-Pacific run deep as it continues to insist that the concept is aimed at containing China. Moscow refuses to even use the term Indo-Pacific officially saying the concept is divisive in nature. Shringla is learnt to have said that the work started by India and Russia on the Chennai-Vladivostok ship line is already an example of cooperation in the Indo-Pacific in pursuit of progress and prosperity.
India has sought to allay some of Russia's apprehensions about the Indo-Pacific by emphasising that it's a free, open, transparent and inclusive initiative with ASEAN at its centre and that it doesn't exclude any country. India and Japan recently managed to get Russia on board for a trilateral track II to work together for joint investment and development of projects in the region.
India should remain self-sufficient not depend on anyone when it comes to military weapons. It is pointless to cry when your so-called friend decides to drop you. There are no friends or enemies in this world. The enemy can be a friend or a friend can be an enemy at any given time and circumstance but the interest remains the same.
Russia will ditch India whenever some situation arises. India should maintain a very far sighted approach while procuring defence equipment from Russia and refrain from making big deals with them. Pakistan is a begger country, Russia could not help her out from any crisis except to make her a pawn to pressurise India to distance from USA block.
RUSSIA, USA, CHINA, FRANCE.CANADA, UK ALL THIS COUNTRYS ARE NOT THE FRIEND OF ANY NATION THEY see ONLY THERE INTEREST TIME HAS NOW WE HAVE ACT LIKE THEM MAKE OUR POLICY INDIA 1ST AND AVOID DOING AB KI BAAR X KI SARKAR
Super powers still continue to work perfectly in controlling the weak nations and show the world they are making peace since years, without success and want to remain powerful on talking tables
Russia will look at their interest and benefits first and India's concern as last priority. They are not happy with India involvement in QUAD, which is targeted against their friend country CHINA. We should now engage more with USA and should try to become NATO member country as soon as possible.
when india move closer to america THESE WAS BOUND TO BE HAPPENED
I have been living in the west since 1960. During my discussions with my Western friend, they always tell me that they can ignore India any time without any consequences. The point out that Indians are mostly divided and any body can take advantage of their weakness. I fully concur with their assessment of us.
It’s time for india to break away from Russia; have a permanent American base in India. We have nothing in common with Russians and just like Chinese they cannot be trusted. All they want is our money for their survival..
Russia along with 44 other countries is part of Nevy exercises going on in Karachi Pakistan. Where is the claim that India will isolate Pakistan? In fact, our country is isolated now.
Russia looking to sell junk defence items to Pakistan. Noting more than that.
So Russia is funding Pakistan with the money they are getting by selling arms to India. India has to be very cautious and clear of its approach towards Russia. For Russia it is just opposing USA is more important. Since Pakistan has come out of USA fold, they are embracing them. No point riding on two horses. We have to be very careful. If required stop buying Russian arms.
Russia needs India badly in order to retain its lost glory -- I don't think India needs Russia at all, especially when US is India's side.
By now China is fed up with Pak and have pretty much written off their investments there. Gwadar is a total flop. Russia is not that stupid to get entangled in Pak.
No matter what Government in Afghanistan, it has to keep its relations in tact with India. 80% of Afghanistan’s exports are to India.
Russia has always been India’s strongest ally but recently Russia seems to be moving closer to China and Pakistan because of India’s promity with USA. India should not lose this friendship as they are seen to be more trustworthy than USA with more political stability.
Russia's "friendship" with India is only to sell war weapons to India. Pakistan has no money to buy Russian weapons, but, their relation are deepening to counter USA.
Both the US and Russia have shown themselves to be unpredictable. India should try to maintain close relations with both the flanks but should remain vigilant about their intnetions.
