Citing national security, gt set to bar Chinese telecom gear
NEW DELHI: In a first, the go nment on Wednesday decided to issue a National Security Directive for the telecommunication sector to mandate scrutiny of telecom equipment and sources, in what is seen as its latest economic offensive ag inst Chinese equipment vendors, amid heightened tension at the Ladakh border.
The action, finalised by the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), will result in a list of trusted sources and products from the go nment, which will also amend the licence norms for telecom companies. Although the go nment refrained from specifying the country that will be impacted, it was clearly aimed at India’s aggressive neighbour, with companies such as Huawei and ZTE likely to face enhanced scrutiny, and even rejections, to ward off any covert operation and possible threat to the telecom infrastructure.
No country should buy Chinese Junk. Focus on domestic production which will create local jobs. License technology if necessary from the west and make stuff locally.
Should have been done long time back & not just that we should be giving incentives to european & american telecom equipment manufacturers to start manufacturing in all corners of India.
Geat news, continue the bank of Chinese products as long as possible. Chinese authorities would only respond when they face an economic embargo
This is a welcome step. Should have been done much earlier to prect our national security.
Its hard truth but I believe it's high time to stop Redmi, realme, pocco, one plus etc from selling products in India. For short term Indian losses we can make huge long term gain for our country and way beyond losses to China.
Long last, the go nment has reacted to continuous public attempts to hacking and stealing information, technology etc.
I thank modi Go nment for taking security step.
Excellent move by the Modiji go nment
Way to go. Chinese products must be rejected globally. Let's all unite n teach those coward bullies a lesson.
Without Chinese products, India will roll back to 1947 era
Go nment should put a blanket ban on Chinese companies. We need to be very blunt with China.
this should have been done long back. good decision
BAR-BAR. Chinese can know all data through our communications (not by hacking only) because all their phone and related instruments remely SEND CHINA the BACKUP.
Good decision. Can't say Congress and other opposition parties might sit on a hunger strike in support of China, as they get funding from China.
World should unite and ban all china products. They have killed the world economy.
Blanket ban on Chinese telecom companies should be imposed kee in mind our national security
One by One, more countries start stop use of Chinees products.
This is how national security put first before business.
Quite expected move by the go nment.
Right approach by the go nment. The Indian go nment must not shy away from boldly naming Chinese companies from where imports are banned. In fact, imports from China must be banned completely. In any case, Chinese produce sub standard products that are fit for use only by the islamic republic of Pakistan.
ban all chinese goods and services
why is Lenovo, aomi still operating in India??
People cannot afford Apple iPhone 12
Excellent move. Should have been done earlier
