LAC standoff: India, China resume diplomatic talks; agree to work towards complete disengagement at earliest
NEW DELHI: India and China on Friday resumed diplomatic talks on military standoff along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh and agreed to continue working towards ensuring complete disengagement of troops in all friction points at the earliest.
The ministry of external affairs said both sides agreed to maintain close consultations at the diplomatic and military level. The talks were held under the framework of Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination (WMCC) on India-China border affairs.
"The two sides ned that the seventh and eighth rounds of senior commanders meetings held on October 12 and November 6 respectively had in-depth discussions in this regard and that these discussions had also contributed to ensuring stability on the ground," the MEA added.
India and China have held several rounds of diplomatic and military talks in the last few months to resolve the standoff.
Nearly 50,000 Indian Army troops are deployed in a high state of combat readiness in various mountainous locations in eastern Ladakh in sub-zero conditions as multiple rounds of talks between the two sides have not yielded concrete outcome to resolve the standoff. China has also deployed an equal number of troops, according to offi als.
"It is our expectation that the further discussions will help both sides to achieve an agreement on a mutually acceptable solution for ensuring complete disengagement in all friction points along the LAC in the Western sector and full restoration of peace and tranquillity as early as possible," MEA had said on Thursday.
Wish all this holds true.
But do not believe China even for a second..... they are habitual in back stabbing.....
China has not implemented agreed measures during past discussions. India should not be naive about the Chinese.
Well Sir, Now it is almost (7) months since the standoff & stalemate has continued. We the citizens of India are ho & praying that Gt of India will ensure that the boundary issue is resolved permanently and it is not a temporary solution.
Even if Chinese agree for complete disengagement, there is no guarantee that they will implement it on ground
Whatever may be the outcome of these talks, we should continue to prepare our defense forces for two front war.We should also not allow Chinese imports
Never believe the Chinese......every time they offer talks, be ready for war.....they show one face but hide their true face.
IM HEARING THIS FOR MANY MONTHS, WHAT DISENGAGEMENT????
This is ridiculous my friends! The flat nosed, godless, commie Chinese are in violation of our sovereign s, and squatting on our territory. Where is these endless diplomatic talks going to lead to?
Whatever it is, never ever believe cunning China.
India needs a Patriotic and Strong Leader for whom the interest of the Country is most important, India needs a leader of an action.
Do not ever believe the Rouge re gie of China, they talk something and do something else on the contrary.
No more friendly relations with China. Period.
Heavy snow fall means China wants to go back to old positions. It can never be believed so India should take caution as the Chinese are liars.
Nothing has changed for last 6-8 months other than Fruitless meetings. Lets be prepared & not get carried away or be complacent.
Never never never trust china
They are cheating , You are foolish to believe them . Chineses are most dapper people all over the world.
India shall not believe a word of Chinkis wherever and whatever circumstances.
