India can beat China in low-cost manufacturing if industry, go nment work together: MSI chairman
NEW DELHI: India has the pential to surpass even China in low-cost manufacturing if the go nment and industry work in a cohesive manner, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) chairman RC Bhargava said on Thursday.
Bhargava also said the go nment should focus on increasing the competitiveness of the Indian industry.
"India has the capability to become a lower cost country than China if the industry and the go nment work together," Bhargava said.
He was sharing his views on making Indian manufacturing globally competitive at an online event organised by the All India Management Association (AIMA).
Bhargava said the only objective of go nment policies should be to increase the competitiveness of Indian industry so that it can make things at the lowest cost along with the best quality in the world.
"The more the industry can sell, the more jobs will be created in the economy," he ned.
Bhargava pointed out that creating jobs across sectors was important for the overall growth of the economy.
That's Possible only if Cor ion is roed out, Fast track Process, Clearances & Quality Checks are done, Political influence/Nexus is Curbed, Loopholes are plugged.

It's two different sy ems of go nment.
On the contrary, India is still struggling with a lot of cultural baggages which restricts a geometric progress like China. India could never be like a Chinese economy.
No Go nment in the World can succeed without taking the private players in builting the nation. It is because of our corrupt politicians and our lethargic sy em, every where hurdles for business people. Also our business people wants to cheat the Go nment in not paying the correct taxes, by showing wrong accounts. So Go nments tax collections are less, moreover politicians and businessmen loot the public funds.
political sy em is crucial. ao could reform China if he thought is necessary, but India politicians would always worry about ves before apply any change.
may be true but no country can beat India on rigid tax reporting sy em, bureaucracy, and complicated filing of returns.
India is a capitalist country and all its businesmen need high profit margins only, unlike China which wants decent margins providing jobs to as many people as possible. India this can never beat China.
Bhargava don't seem to understand that Modi is neither interested to make Indian industry competitive and beat China in low cost manufacturing, nor create more jobs, nor make businesmen consider workers as parters. All these are ag inst his views. Modiji wants high profit margins with low investment and that too FDI with foreigners to take risk and that's all, typically Gujarati mindset.
great thought sir. it is possible. if we think
It can be possible, but need lots of dedications and sincerity with all people who are involved. Also need lots of trust in Go nment and the same sincerity in whatever they do.
You are , this is only possible if Gt is not money minded, Infrastructure should be developed to augment it, Cor ion should be close to zero and absolute sincerity by Politicians. These things are dream in our country.
A most pertinent point scored by RC Bhargava! Hope his vision spells the future of manufacturing in India.
this vision can never come true as long as THE GREED FOR TAXES in the gt est.
