Two years’ jail for sale, use of Chinese crackers in Madhya Pradesh
BHOPAL: Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday warned that sale and use of Chinese-made crackers would lead to prosecution under Explosives Act, and two years in jail.
The decision was taken at a law-and-order review meeting, attended by home minister Narottam Mishra and senior officials, on Wednesday evening. Additional chief secretary, home, Rajesh Rajora, said that Section 9b of Explosives Act — which provides for two years’ imprisonment for storage, distribution and sale of illegal crackers — would apply on Chinese crackers this year.
The home department has issued an order on this and sent it to district collectors. It says that import of crackers from other countries, including China, is illegal as director general foreign trade has not issued any licence for this.
It was also decided at the meeting that crackers with pictures of gods and goddesses should not be used on Diwali. Rajora, however, explained that it was an “appeal to people and not a ban”. An officer present at the meeting said, “There was no decision on the issue. Many crackers made at Sivakasi come in packets that have pictures of goddesses. Can it be stopped? Therefore, no decision could be taken on the ban.”

Every state should follow MP.
Although it's a good step, but why permit import of crackers at the first place? Simply ban the imports of Chinese crackers.

first of all imports are regulated by central gov. it is the responsibility of bjp to ban the import of these items from china. just banning a few apps is cosmetic.

Ban the import of crackers and not the users.. How about jailing all those using Chinese mobiles/ TVs etc ..using the same logic..??
