外文标题：Over one-third of temporary workers in US from India: Report
WASHINGTON: More than one-third of the temporary workers in the US in 2012 were from India, which also accounted for the largest number of non-immigrants residing in the US that year, according to an official report.
Of the 1.87 million resident non-immigrants in the US in 2012, India accounted for the maximum number of 430,000 residents, followed by China with 210,000 residents and South Korea with 140,000, the Department of Homeland Security said in its latest report.
Out of the 1.9 million non-immigrants residing in US in 2012, the largest categories were temporary workers (45 per cent, or 840,000) and students (38 per cent, or 720,000), the report said.
"Among temporary workers, 38 per cent were citizens of India and 45 per cent were ages 25-34," the report said adding that nearly 50 per cent of the students were citizens of China (22 per cent), India (14 per cent), or South Korea (13 per cent).
Slightly more than 50 per cent of the students were ages 18-24, the report said.
Exchange visitors made up another 12 per cent of the total resident non-immigrant population and the remaining four per cent were diplomats and other representatives.

This is my third visit to Canada. Each time I come I stay for 4 to 5 months and extensively try to find the real picture about the condition of Indian immigrants. I dont find a very rosy picture about their condition. Some of the highly qualified immigrants including doctors and doctorates are doing sub standard jobs like driving cabs or as truck drivers. Sometimes I feel these people should not have left our country to face so much underemployment.

And out of this 90% are from Andhra. So Andhra contributes to almost 1/3 of US immigrants.
The ray of hope to get a permanent job in US , make them to work as temporary workers in US . It appears that most of the Indians are working after getting MS Degree. Why can't they try a good job in India and live with families happily.

India is surviving on the remittances made by NRIs.

I am sure that 90% of the indians have gone there in frustration due to the reservstion policies of India. No one who would have got a job due o reservations would be there.

US Enterprises are taking advantage of Indians and others as temporary workers. US Citizens will not take these jobs as they are mostly part time and wages are at the lower levels, but as per the law applicable in USA. While this will help American economy, USA is complaining that developing countries are snatching US jobs. Without outsourcing jobs, and using immigrants for temporary jobs, Us will find it difficult to make their products competitative in the market.. Ifcourse, these temporary jobs are helping immensely the immigrants to meet their financial requirement to live in USA. It is a mutually beneficial proposition.
