Infrastructure in Gujarat is terrible
by Shankar Lal (View MyPage) on May 04, 2012 10:27 AM | Hide replies
Gujarat does not have appropriate infrastructure to keep up with other states. I heard of lot of development in Gujarat and thought of Gujarat as one of the richest state in India for last 3 to 4 decades. But my visit to Gujarat last year made me wonder what rich and development means. There is mud road even in most of the residential streets in cities like Ahmedabad and Surat. Moreover it is always jam packed with vehicles and visibility is terrible due to pollution. I was surprised to see that a state like Gujarat cannot afford to give ample amount of drinking water to people inspite of having river like Narmada. Officials from my company along with me visited states like Gujarat, Karnataka and TamilNadu to decide on investing on our head office for Asia.

What is the use of giving roads in Kms/state.
The largest states will have the largest road network, more or less.
It w’d have been better to give roads/state area. Also s’d have given importance to qlty of road. In india, there are roads and no-roads. Both cannot be clubbed together

first of all its Orissa there is “r” and “ss”. It is not an insult, they parked in a truck stop and cooking and eating its healthier than eating in a roadside restaurant not because they dont make it clean its just that home made food is always better. and why do you think it has to be a foreigner?

Vajpayee’s dream project. He initiated NHAI(National Highway Authority of India). His dream was to connect Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from Gurjar to Mijoram through Highways. His vision was Roads to each village of India so he started Pradhanmantri Sadak Yojna. The highways we are seeing is due to him otherwise we had only Grand Tank Road in ruined state.
How much of these miles are really Highways?
by Rathna (View MyPage) on May 03, 2012 02:39 PM | Hide replies
How much of these miles noted here can really be classified as Highways? There is no standard definition for highways, they are not well organized. Some areas have 4 lanes, some have 2 lanes, some have 6 lanes, some 8. 🙂

Total length of pot holes
by B M (View MyPage) on May 03, 2012 02:25 PM
If the total length of pot-holes is deducted, the nett length will reduce significantly.
by Guy (View MyPage) on May 03, 2012 02:17 PM
I hope the figures mentioned for the length of the highways are correct 🙂
