原文标题：’India NOT nervous in dealing with China’
On the sidelines of the fifth summit of BRICS (Brazil , Russia , India, China and South Africa ), to be held at Durban in South Africa on March 26 and 27, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, for the first time, will meet China’s new Premier Xi Jinping.
This first meeting will set the tone of a fresh beginning of the new Chinese leader with India. The change of leadership in China is a major event not just for Asia, but the whole world.
A senior government official, while briefing on the meet in an off-the-ecord conversation, told rediff.com that India looks forward to the Durban meet with Jinping.
“We can’t say anything beforehand, but it’s an important first meeting. Let’s see how it goes,” he said.
As these are interesting times when Asia is holding forth global economic health, Africa is attracting vigorous attention of the world, and America is coming to senses after failure of their war adventures, significance of the India and China’s meeting can’t be undermined.
The senior official, who has been dealing with the issue, told rediff.com, “I can say that India is confident of managing its relations with China. We have moved forward since the 1998 visit of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi to China. The border issue has been set aside since then, and other issues have seen forward movement. We must note that our borders are most peaceful.”
But, if you ask more, the officer offers nuances saying that India understands it is not an easy relationship, and one has to deal with China as it comes.
That realisation has always been kept in mind.
When asked how Jinping and Dr. Singh’s visit is likely to go, he said, “When the leadership changes, only the style changes. We look at the substance in diplomatic relationships. As I said earlier, we can deal with China. We are not nervous. India knows it can manage this relationship.”
He discounted the change in the leadership in some ways, saying ‘style (new leadership of China) is not the issue’.
He, added, “Jinping is a cheerful personality. He is quite relaxed and informal. He, even cracks jokes sometimes.”
The official also pointed out while talking about Jinping’s rise to the highest office, “After coming to power, he wrote a letter to the Indian prime minister. In a first of its kind act, he gave interviews and narrated his vision of bilateral relations.”
In a letter written to Dr Singh earlier this year, Jinping had talked about how ‘the world has enough space for China and India to achieve common development, and the world also needs common development’.
On eve of his meeting with Dr Singh, Jinping elaborated further his vision of the bilateral relation while proposing five steps template.
The agency report has quoted him talking about the bilateral relation where Xi said, “We would maintain strategic communication and keep bilateral relations on the right track. Second, we should harness each other’s comparative strength and expand a win-win cooperation in infrastructure, mutual investment and other areas. Third, we should strengthen cultural ties and constantly increase mutual understanding and friendship between our peoples. Fourth, we should expand coordination and collaboration in multilateral affairs to jointly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of developing countries and tackle global challenges.”
“Fifth, we should accommodate each other’s core concerns and properly handle problems and differences existing between the two countries,” the Chinese President said on eve of his meet with Dr Singh.
His narrative suggests that new Chinese leader will broadly continue with the emphasis on economic relations and will keep the relation on track while maintaining the strategic communication lines open.
The setting in Durban suits the mood as India believes that, “BRICS is the new growth pole which is not anti-west.” said the senior officer.

China dealing has to be firm
Indias dealing with China
Why India is always very nervous while dealing with Pakistan who is not as stronger as India and has lost very badly in the three wars with us ? Why we are allowing and tolerating them a with all their serious mischiefs and crimes they commit every time ? Why the government has always a love and affection for their pople, artist and players inspite of indifferent treatment meted out to our citizens ?

@ Chanakya Absolutely correct.Even we are afraid to lend our support to the human rights issues of Tebetians least we displease China.I believe China with all this advancement in Tech and economics have its weakness ,for example One Child Policy -No Chinese want to lose its child -ruthless suppression of religious sect…..,etc .India should take advantage of these policy and prepare to take on China . I think China can be defeated with help of Chinese -there are so many disappointed gruops in China itself.
Chinese only understand force and brutality
by nikla tapala
Chinese occupy Tibet Xinjian inner Mongolia Eastern Tibet . They claim South Chian Sea – yes the entire Sea -Parcel, Taiwan , Arunachal, parts of Russia , Korea, Vietnam …… The only way to deal with them is force demonstrated in history . So develop faster and many more Nuclear Warheads and ballastic and Cruise Missiles and have a better trained INDIAN ARMY and People NOT this North Indian Band Master Army of Hindi Parcahr samiti , which is corrupt incompetent and brainless like Sonai and Manmohan . We will have to fight China it is NOT IF but only when !

China is dumping goods into india and has a balance of payments in their favour whereas at the same time their support for any india elements in neighbouring countries is well known. Even with india friendly countries like bangladesh, mynmar they are building ports and investments which are all dangerous for us considering their ‘fightercock’ nature. At the moment our MMS seems meek and timid so also anyone from the opposition. so the situation seems against india at the moment.
Chinese sweet words have no meaning without concrete actions!
India should only change its course of defense preparedness against China only if all outstanding problems with the China are resolved concretely with both governments signing on it. India has gifted Tibet to China unilaterally, atleast China should return the Aksaichin. China is blocking the border dispute resolution. China wants to resolve the problems as per their terms, which wil never happen with India, Japan, Vietnam, Philipines, Brunei, Malaysia, Singapore, Myanmar and others.
Now it could be USA-CHINA-INDIA world

India need to stress more on international affairs and play a prominent role in impacting global decisions, if china would have been in India position they would had forced usa to stop military aid to Pakistan long back, as Pakistan were using these funds to attack our country.
USA has always a habit of giving an impression, that there country enemy is the enemy to the whole world, India should not fall prey for this, and should share good relations with Iran and other anti USA countries.
For the last five decades it was USA Europe who lead the world, now cards have changed it could be the world of USA China and India.
India should be improve its relations with third world countries as they will help us in fetching vote in pro India decisions in UN resolutions, but sad thing is china is already started practicing this strategy from long time.
India should definitely raise voice against China in the matter of invading India through borders, making changes in India china border, and China experiments in India water bodies.
India should take concrete steps in curbing China activities against our country.
Re: Re: Now it could be USA-CHINA-INDIA world
India will dominate China as India was #1 Economic Super Power barely 200 years ago before muslim thugs and british looted India of every penny!!India, the Hindu land will become #1 economic power within 30-35 years by the grace of Maha Ganapathy and once money comes, muscle power is just a matter of time!!By the way India of 2013 and beyond is not India of 1000 ad or 1100 ad when Ghouri and Ghazni came and looted at will hahaha!!!Now we are out to loot the world with our MNC’s!!

China is friendly country and they respect Indians as Indians have taken Religion_yoga_Kungfu,etc to their country.
Except 1962,which was due to misunderstanding and because of MacMohan line created by British, the two big countries India and China are staying together almost peacefully for last 5000 years, thats not a matter of joke.
by sam raj
That is not a matter of Joke but with the help of natural protection India had with the help of Himalayas, Tibet and Surrounded by 3 seas (Arabic, Indian Ocean and Bay of Bengal) coastal
But today, we have a serious threats,
