原文标题：China takes giant leap, puts space lab into orbit
BEIJING: China on Thursday successfully launched its first unmanned "space laboratory" . The Tiangong-1 , which means " Heavenly Palace" , blasted off from a site in the Gobi Desert around 6.46pm (India time).
The 10.5m-long , cylindrical module was launched two days before its National Day celebrations, making China the third country after the US and Russia to operate a permanent space station, which it expects to be operational by 2020.
Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao watched as the unmanned "space lab" and the Long March rocket that heaved it skyward from a pad at Jiuquan in northwest Gansu province, lifted off under clear skies.
The Tiangong-1 will orbit on its own for a month after which it will be joined by another spaceship, Shenzhou-8 . Both will then conduct the first space docking. The next two years will see two more spaceships.
The Tiangong-1 will help China establish a manned space test platform capable of long-term unmanned operation in space with temporary human attendance, China's Manned Space Engineering office spokeswoman Wu Ping said.

Its a distraction. Chinas true focus is on her military buildup not space travel. China dangles a million windchimes in front of the nations so they look the other way and not at her great army buildup.

The then imperialist Britain subjugate Pakistan for centuries. Now it is a payback time for Britain. Now the neo-imperialist US is taking up where Britain has left off. I feel sorry for the Pakistan people for all the sufferings at the hands of the western powers even till these days. I hope one day they will rise up to those western gun touting, chest thumping and trigger happy white trash. Long Live Pakistan and its people. Send one nuclear bomb to the downtown Manhattan and do some justice to the rest of the people all over the world. Best Regards, Cheers, Love from China

Dear Editor, The growth China is showing in the recent years is really amazing. The Chinese Government is very steadfastly growing due to patriotism and good governance. Our corrupt Politicians who is mostly engaged in swindling our poor mans tax money and plundering our own country;s mineral wealth for their personal / family benefits should learn lesson from China in augmenting the countrys welfare and growth. Only then our country will have a real growth , otherwisw we will be only fighting ourselves and wasting countrys prestige, money and time. QWe should really a lot of lessons from countries like China, Korea, Singapore, Indonesia, Taiwan etc. Will our Politicians realise this atleast now and allow our beautiful country to grow.

Don't blame UPA for corruption. It is people of India who are responsible for corruption and scams. These scams such as 2G scam, CWG scam were already under investigation in 2008, 2009 when people of India re-elected this scams ridden UPA-II in May 2009. People who sell their vote by taking money, people who cast vote in consideration of caste, religion, fatwa, and people who do NOT cast vote on election day with their stupid belief that my one vote will not make difference these three categories of Indians are responsible for creating corruption and scams.

TOI - Did this space lab of China fall out of orbit into the earth as our ISRO Sukhoi did so ? R Asokan mentioned that the space work of India crashed into the sea after successfully orbiting the moon. It is hard to believe that the Chinese re-engineered, fake and cheap equipment work whereas our freshly engineered by the world's best scientists and workmanship of newest technology could fail. Maybe we forgot to do pujas and chant mantras to our gods and goddesses when we launch the space mission. Think we should send some holy men and sadhus next time to our orbit stations when we do the launch. Jai Hind.

I always wondered ,, how did a nation like India got colonised by a tiny country like Great Britain? After reading Indian Times for the past year, i realised that Indians in general have a Pinkerton Complex. A bit like White Men Worship Mentality. Come on...Indians... Tan deekra, I fully agree with you. I am a Parsi and Indian newly immigrated to Singapore. Indians are the biggeset white-ass kissing people on the face of the earth. And we Parsis are the worst of the worst. As I have written before, when I spoke with Chinese students in America, most want to learn all they can and go back to build up China. The Indian students? All they think of is a green card to live in America or go to UK or Canada.
And yes I agree with you that India is capable of a lot more. Trouble is that Indians are intent upon thinking of themselves and quasi-white and in so they have lost their souls. Of course not ALL but most I would say. And worst of all, as the world economy is fast shifting to Asia Indians still have the dream of joining the West! St stupid. So arrogant. So gheloo. Often when I read these letters in TOI I feel ashamed to be Indian.

helloo....... the previous rocket sent by china was a failure and plunged in to the sea. failures are very common in this highly complex and risky field. you must remember that us failed 16 times before reaching the moon with a probe. india did it in their first attempt, almost with indigenously developed technology. yes, we do have falilures. they wont deter us from our commitment to stand on par with other world powers and provide our people with best of communication technology. india is already a leader in commercial space business, and growing rapidly. we have been launching satellites of many nations. finally, if you are a tech brain come and contribute to your own country . we paid taxes for your education......

dr.madhav: You are so right. India now ranked no. 1 in international space technology overpassing US and Russia. Obviously ahead of China which is just taking its first baby step forward. China has still alot to learn from India. Then, this news report is not fully reported out by Saibal Dasgupta of TNN. How come he did not mention in the news that China space mission program is reverse-engineer of a combination of US and Russia technology. It is of sub-standard and obsolete model and cannot withstand the long duration in space. Whereas our Sukhoi technology is more advanced and better than the Chinese which at least we Indians made them ourselves without borrowed expertise from Russia or US. Our Indian scientists are more superior than the Chinese in space technology. Jai Hind.
